OK so I have a few issues with my jamme to mame converted project but one of the issues is the coin slot no longer works. It was working fine as a complete Jamma cab but now I have the Jpac fitted the coin slot no longer works. The coins are just rejected and the coin / credit test button doesnt work either. I presume when in notepad it should register 5 when coins are inserted? It does nothing but all other controls buttons are fine.. Any sugestions?

check your ground connections, with spagetti, it's easy to miss a ground some place and have a few buttons not work.
-
The coins are just rejected...
Are you using the right sized coins for the coin mechs?
-
If the coins aren't dropping into the coinbox, that means it has nothing to do with wiring. What happens when you manually activate the coin drop switch?
-
did this cab have coinmech lock outs? They are very common in older atari cabs, they are just a small coil that sits about midway in the mech and keeps the machine from taking money when its not powered on...

Thanks for the reply guys, it was all working fine before I converted it to mame worked perfect.
Ive attached a pic of the coin mech, there is a credit test button top left but that also doesnt work when pressed. Im thinking perhaps its needs 12v for it to work... there is a switch inside the door which is mapped to F1 any idea what this is?

The pic helps tons -- you need to provide power to your coin comparator. I'm not familiar with them, so not sure whether it needs +5V or +12V, but you should be able to tell by tracing the wires back on the JAMMA harness.

says 12 volts right on the left side.... looks like some kind of accumulator board... or more likely a mars multiline (which is what the 111 is) to a single line converter. most of the 111's where 12 volt.you have orange which should be 12 volt there, black for your ground, and white is your coin line output.

yes, i get what you mean, but when you talk about DC voltage it's called Positive and Negative. confusion can set in especially since many of the members here are from different parts of the world. let's not get into what negative is actually called...
Black for hot/live wires and White is used as the neutral wire in alternating current home line voltage in north america, so if you use that terminology, you may end up with some advice that is reverse to what you are meant to do.
on your computer PSU, most commonly the yellow wire connection is +12 volts and your black wires are Negative also known as zero volts (0) this is the equivalent to the (-) post on a battery

well thanks so much for all the help I ran a 12v take off from the disk drive outlet on the PSU to the 12v input and it works!!! Bonus is the coin LED also works so its now fully working! Im over the moon.
Just need to change the credit amount now so its 10p per play so dont have to keep feeding money, does the togle switches change this does anyone know, the ones in the pic I posted?
Cheers
