What is the best way to ship a monitor?  How do you keep it from getting broken while saving shipping costs.

Avoid, couriers, most if not all couriers use multiple "hubs" at each "hub" the package is either manually handled (a lot of times one guy) or sent through an extremely rough sorting station.
Then when it gets on the truck, there is only one guy that does his best to lift it out of the truck and to your door/dock, but awkward and heavy.

Any CRT monitor we ship is shipped by truck freight, but not cheap.

Itemized:

- I get one of those TV boxes from U-haul.

-I put a layer of packing (newpaper wadded up, styrofoam peanuts, bubblepack, whatever) on the bottom. Make sure it's not too thick, so balance between monitor and top packing.

- I wrap the monitor in bubblepack, and place in box face down.

- I add more packing, not to tightly, around and atop the monitor till the box is full to the brim or slighly more so.

- seal with packing tape; the lined stuff is best.

- I have Fedex pick it up at my door (free service).
