Was thinking of buying this new monitor and 3d glasses? Anyone have any experience? Does the refresh rate and brightness fix any of the issues that were making people sick? If it still makes you sick then it would not be worth it.

My friend went out and bought the Samsung 50" LCD-3D TV.
I tried on the glasses and played a few games.
The 3D effect was a really cool experience, but it had a few drawbacks.
You could not really concentrate what was going on in the game. Your focus was how cool the 3D was.
Watching for long periods of time gave me nausea and headache.
The price tag. His setup was over £1000.00 I know the Nvidia is cheaper.
Thinking about investing in a product that deprecates in value by the week is enough to give nausea and headache. ;D

I'd sooner buy the new Vuzix VR1200's before a 3D TV. http://www.vuzix.com/consumer/products_wrap_vr1200.html (http://www.vuzix.com/consumer/products_wrap_vr1200.html)
Stereoscopic and head tracking built in, awesome!

I only have experience with the older 3D vision system and while I didn't have any issue with nausea or headaches, I'd recommend not spending the money. Even though it worked fine for me it doesn't add anything to the experience past the initial OMG moment when you first try it.
Day 1: OMG this is sweet I need to try all my games out in 3D!
Day 7: I guess I should play this in 3D since I spent so much on the kit.
Day 30: I wonder how much I could get for this 3D kit?

3D is experienced differently by everyone.
Ive never had anything but love and joy for it. I watch every new movie in Imax3D.
I cant see how anyone says 3d is a gimmick, or that they dont think it adds much to a game/movie.
But I have a feeling that its because they are not seeing what Im seeing... and I think its because their eyes are closer or further apart. And since a film is locked in a set eye distance... the effects for them turn out to be either too shallow... or not effective at all. This leads to headaches and other problems.
I think such people would have to build a periscope like adjusting device to dial in the correct distances. Not even sure that will work properly. Their brains have grown up seeing things differently for all their lives.. so it may not be able to be de-programmed like that on the fly.
I say, that if Imax3d movies Rock for you, then 3d games and movies will rock too. They wont be as 3d on a smaller screen... but it will still look really cool.
I have the old sega master system 3d glasses. They have really bad flicker, but Ive enjoyed the 3d games with them immensely, for ages. Ive also seen the much older PC revisions of glasses that have came out... and the effect was good. Not Imax good, but good. Part of it is up to the game companies in how they program things. For example, most 3d will be Inside the screen. However, on the Sega... Missile Defense 3D, the missiles that get past you come out of the screen. Same for the Arcade game Continental Circus. Tires from your exploding car, and other cars wrecked pieces, fly out right at you. Its very awesome.
Id like to know if someone with the new nvidia setup can run mame's continental circus, and press f1 or f2 i think, to enable 3d mode... and see if its synced. I tried the sega glasses, leaving them in my sms while looking at mame on my pc monitor... and it was VERY awesome... however, it would get out of sync a lot, making a mess of things.

I know what you mean. Imax3D rocks and it is defiantly no gimmick. Looking at a screen that takes you entire perspective vision, not just left and right but up and down. Crystal clear video because they use a special film (For the movies that were made for 3d anyway) and with the 3D if feels like Virtual Reality.
Question is can they get any of that IMAX experience at home? I defiantly see why people who only experienced the first gen 3d at home that had no emersion would think 3D is just a gimmick.
My concerns are that I don’t think a 27’ monitor is still big enough to give you the emersion. Also I could do without the migraines.

Sure, just drink a 2 litre bottle of cola or whatever, sit down and try to sit through the movie for 2.3 hours without going to the can.
That's my IMAX experience, and my last.
-
Why anyone would drink a lot before a movie is beyond me. However, if one couldnt be bothered to use simple logic... then there are restrooms fairly easy to access.
Personally, I dont drink a thing for over an hour before a movie, and take a leak at the theater, before getting in line for seating.

Doesn’t sound very logical. Hmmmmmm

Logical explanations:
- IMAX employees strap the moviegoer into their seat and force 2 liters of soda into him/her.
- Moviegoer exhibits some combination of psychoses that compel him/her to drink excessively and then prevent him/her from getting up in the middle of a movie.

3d tvs are a fad, you should avoid them. When they came out with 3d tvs my first thought was "wow they must be DOUBLE 1080p resolution because the screen would have to be interlaced for the 3d effect" then I did some research and found out that in 3d mode they actually run at 1080i and I thought "wait, couldn't they just show that on a standard tv?"
Guess what, they more or less can. Games like Batman Arkham city and AC: Revelations are already experimenting with 3d modes for 2d televisions. One is to use colored glasses which are a step up from the old ones, but still a little clunky. Another that AC: revelations is trying is to simply double the screen in software mode allowing you to use polarized glasses for the 3d.
My guess is in a year or so this polarized method will be fairly standard for the major video game releases and that is a much cheaper method to get 3d. Polarized glasses do a pretty darn good job as well, in fact some of the 3d tvs actually use a similar method.
Regardless, 3d games in which the 3d is actually used to enhance gameplay is in it's infancy. I would hold on to my money if I were you.
