Title: Mak Hi-Res VGA question
Post by: Sentuvilla on November 24, 2011, 07:00:46 pm
Picked up the Makvision Hi-Res. Supposed to be 800x600 or 1024x768 only. I ran 640x480 with no issues. Is this normal?

Am I damaging my monitor?

EDIT** This is the  2929D4G-TS model.

Formatted computer, re installed the drivers for the Arcade VGA 2. Cant get any image past the boot screen on the monitor. Over specification. Verified that its in 800x600 @60hz.

Just cant figure it out. Bad video card, maybe?

Removed Arcade VGA 2 and threw in my ATI 6970. Same issues.. "Over Specification" at 640x480@60. Beginning to think I need custom drivers for this, but really assumed the Arcade VGA 2 should have worked.

Fixed.

Had to plug in dual monitors (main LCD and the Makvision) which effectively disabled the LCD and enabled the CRT. This took me literally 8 hours to figure out. Still dont know why my Arcade VGA 2 isnt working with it. Probably some similar silly ass windows trick.

For the record, this thing runs very happily in 640x480. Handles 800 and 1024 as well. Cant find any hard specs on it aside from the website (useless) and the crappy manual. Looks great though, very pleased.
