Title: Does it take quarters and eject solid gold coins?
Post by: MaineEvent on November 20, 2011, 03:03:24 am
What a joke

Mermaid, 50's Gottlieb: 30,000.00
Yes you are seeing right. The price of this game is 30,000.00. This has been a project for the guys here at fabulous fantasies for the last and we fiqured we can do it. We found a brand new playfield had a reproduction backglass made for just this game. We also found new old stock plastic parts for the game also alond with all new parts for the fisherman in the backglass. So you can pretty much get the idea this is a upgraded brand new build mermaid game that is 100 times better then original and looks 100 times better and I gurantee the best looking game on the planet. It has a lacquer finish on the cabinets and all the metal was done to a very high polish. It is truly a work of art. We will include a 90 warranty on the game and shipping in the US. Oside the US will will work you out a deal. The game will be done in 2 weeks so this is fair notice for everyone as if it does not sell here it will go to a special auction from christie's were it will pull in over 50,000 so I wanted the
pinball world to get first crack at it. Please donot waste our time we are serious about this and will post on our website tons of pixs for people to download or whatever with it. Thanks for reading.

Let's see, you know you can get at least $50k at auction, but just to be nice you'll sacrifice making $20k ? Yeah, sure. There's more that is nuts here than just the price.

Even with all the time & effort into a restoration, this particular game is only worth $5,000 tops.

Granted, they probably could flim-flam a celebrity into buying it at $30,000.

Didn't someone commission CPR to do a short run of Mermaid playfields?  That must have cost a pretty penny.

Why exactly is this game so expensive?

It's old, very rare, has nice artwork, a weird ball saver gate that pops up and down, and backbox animation.  In my mind, that kicks it up to a couple of grand.  I can't account for the remainder.

Well, fair enough I guess. I agree on the couple grand, but yeah. The rest? Who knows...Hype
