Title: game status feedback
Post by: EightBySix on September 23, 2011, 07:30:51 pm
I know there has been a topic about how mame handles things such as force feedback, etc, but does anyone know if mame reports back what state the game is in?

For example, lighting up player 1 or 2 start buttons when a credit is put in, or when the game is over and credit remains? Flashing cp lights in attract mode maybe?

Only if the original game had outputs to do these things.
It would be against the purpose of MAME to add outputs that weren't there to begin with.

That's a good point. I think I can do what I need to (a kind of cab attract mode) by calculating when there has been no activity on the buttons. That should be when the game is in attract mode, unless it's  sitting there waiting for a player start button press.
So thinking about it, if there has been no button press, as long as the last input wasn't a coin up.
