Well you noted your opinion and I noted mine.  Zing?  Wouldn't really say that, cause I don't really use that word much.

just another run and gun shooter, with pretty much everything been done before and probably better, its all the same ---steaming pile of meadow muffin---, some people claim PS3's some savior for "hardcore" gamers but they're just the same.

multiplayer vs real life opponents is a joke as expected. just random spray n pray and NOTHING more to it.

this is when metal gear online is different from every other online shooters. there are so many different ways you can play with different skillsets. MGO fun factor and variety is unmatched to this day. only problem with mgo is lag. game is too forgiving. it doesnt disconnect you even with terrible connection. I HAVE to fight hord of mexicans/brazillians/chileans/euros..

Well, you have to keep in mind when the original came out, which was 2006 I believe. I dont usually play games for the multiplayer, cause at my age now, there are snot nosed punks that play all day and totally work me, then I get pissed and dont play. This is the one shooter(sorry snaake, just got my ps3 so I havent played any MG titles except for the original) that actually has a story worth playing. I beat the first 2, thought they were fun, had some interesting boss fights, and the graphics were excellent. I just dont want to shell out 65 bucks considering how quickly I beat the other games.

This is so incredibly true. I used to never know who I was playing when I was heavy into online gaming, now that headsets are so common, I can hear by the voice that the dude kicking ---my bottom--- hasn't even reached puberty. It kinda ruins it for me.

Exactly. I knew you would feel my pain. The last game I was playing on line was Marvel vs Capcom 3, and MAN. I couldnt even remember the last time I had got that mad. There is no point in trying to "practice" anyway, because they have SO MUCH time, you cant even compete because they put so many hours in. Same thing happened when I played Starcraft 2... First day I was like "man this is fun!!" then a week later I was like "jesus I hate this game."

Don't most games have some type of ranking/matchmaking?  Seemed to work well in SC2.  Haven't played in awhile and never trained daily for it, but found after awhile I was playing with/against similiarly skilled people.

My biggest gripe in online playing is the dbags that blast music or the inbreds spouting racism.  Luckily there are mute buttons.

Gears of War 1 was lots of  fun for me, mostly due to the co-op, same with the halo series. After the first one it wasn't really fun to play solo.

As for playing online, for some reason lots of the kids didn't know how to defend against blanka on sf4 and the sf2 hd remake, so I'd find it pretty easy to win with him. Don't get me wrong, I lost half of the time, but compared to playing with Ken and other people.. yeah :(. The thing that pissed me off is when kids would disconnect right before losing.

I played Gears 1 back in 2006 at a friends but until this week never played it again. Everyone on my friends list was playing Gears 3 and raving about it so I went out and bought all three (Gears 1 & 2 double pack was £15 used, sweet!)

Gears of War:

I spent most of the game feeling either scared stiff or like the biggest badass going! The firefights genuinely felt like you were pinned down at times and I died a fair bit due to my own stupidity! The audio adds massive amounts of tension when you're sneaking your way through bombed out buildings/factories and then suddenly something will jump through a window at you. Awesome! The story is pretty good but the game world obviously draws heavily from Aliens/Lord of the Rings/Warhammer 40k, which although obvious is also pretty cool, they seemed to have ripped off the best bits. Gun with a chainsaw bayonet anyone?! All in all, a great game and pretty ground-breaking at the time. Will definitely play through it again.

Gears of War 2:

I spent a lot more time feeling like a badass and a lot less time feeling like a little girl, so I enjoyed this one a lot more. Certainly some creepy bits but this one focused more on the firefights. Great bosses and interesting plot twists, awesome weapons and a really nice user interface built on the first game and made a great game truly excellent. I've not played online but I bet horde mode is fun as hell! I'll definitely be replaying this, especially if they do some more 25x XP weekends online.

Gears of War 3:

I've only played the first two chapters of campaign and I'm really impressed. New enemies, familiar weapons and controls, beautiful graphics and even more Lester Speight! I also played a bit online and enjoyed versus mode much more than Halo-style FPS games. I really hate the whole jumping-around circle-strafing thing now that there's an alternative. I'd have to say so far that it seems like they've taken the best bits of the first two, improved them and put them into this. Can't wait to play some more later on today!
