Nope. 64 bit does make a bit of a difference, maybe 10% more fps, but the ram won't do anything.

I could have sworn I remembered hearing people mention 30% performance bumps when moving from 32 to 64-bit, especially noticeable in games like blitz and gauntlet legends.

in select drivers you'll see that, yes.

It definitely is noticeable in games like those, and maybe it is a bump that big.. I mean, going from 15 FPS to 21 is 40%.. I guess it's just hard to notice in a context like that. Either way, it is a decent boost, and completely recommended. Do it!

I can attest to the increase in performance but you have to use the 64bit version of MAME to see the improvement (although the 32bit version will still run).  As mentioned before, this is highly dependent on drivers and if your processor is not even close to running the games you want, then the expense of a copy of Win 7 will not be worthwhile.  In that case, you would be better off getting a better CPU.  That being said, with 6GB of RAM, I'm guessing you've pumped a lot of money into your PC.

What games would you like to see running better in your machine?

When I looked into it, fomr what i gathered, it will make games that run borderline run better, so if you are getting, say 45 fps on a game with 32 bit, it may be fully playable  at 60fps with 32, but generally it won't let you run something that you can't run now.

all components are brand new and 6gig of ram was only $30.  This is my mobo: http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/PID-MX32364%28ME%29.aspx (http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/PID-MX32364%28ME%29.aspx)

id say 90% or more of the roms run perfectly.  This mobo only supports 4x pcie (but has full slot)

Like the other poster said, unless you have some specific game that you are just shy or running full speed, there is no point in going to 64 bit.  Also, depending on the level of customization in your setup and what additional games/emulators you run, going to Win 7 x64 could pose incompatibility problems.  I actually switched over to Win 7 x64, got fed up with all the issues I had and switched back to XP.  Again, this depends on your setup.  MAME would not be a problem.
