It's a George Gomez design. I'm guessing he's going for a combo-driven gameplay here. The captive ball looks neat, but I'm a sucker for drop targets and this doesn't seem to provide that fix. I do like that the ramps look to require some precision to hit, however.
-
Looks like the same thing as Iron Man or Avatar. A couple far off loops, a ramp or two back to the flippers, and a big suit/robot you have to hit to start multiball.
-
:drool
Sadly, I can buy two NIB toy cranes that will make at least four times as much in a week as this machine will. :-\
-
That captive ball guide is curved. I don't sloppy shots will active that. Seems like maybe it's more of a precision game, like Lord of the Rings to me.
-
Crap. I am such a sucker for transformers, I can't be objective. I want one.
-
You know, Kevin, you could just let me rent your Sterns for like $50/month. You'd make more money that way.
Hmmm...as long as I don't have to clean it or fix anything...
-
I'm not crazy about the play field art. It looks so busy and cluttered. Maybe it will look better in person.
-
Yeah maybe it's just me but its just looks like a cluttered mess.
-
four flashers, 2 right up front. Ugh, I could do without those. Not that I will be purchasing any $5K pins anytime soon.

Concur.
Is this the pro or the LE (playfield)?

STERN is really milking this one folks. According to a PINBALL NEWS article they are going to make THREE different Limited Edition Models along with the regular Pro Model... SHEESH!
Be sure to collect them all and be the envy of the neighborhood.

The article says that it is pretty much all cartoon artwork with only the title font being movie related.
-
Please don't make any discussions until Xiaou2 tells us his opinions on the layout.

Here are the prices I was quoted:
Standard/Pro: $4300
LE: $5900
LE Autobot or Decepticon edition: $6100
Shipping not included

The LEs sound pretty cool on this one. I like the idea quite a bit. It's too bad Williams didn't do some of this stuff, but I guess back then there was very, very little direct sales to the home.
-
Kevin, I'll do $100/month in cash for Stern rental.
LMK!
PM me :)
No, you can't rent the new Transformers game for that price, but possibly my older new sterns
-
For now, the only thing I can comment on, is that I Like the artistically designed ramp returns.
I cant make out the shot well enough.
And yes, the 'clip-art' arrangement is an utter mess. This is what happens when you dont hire a real artist, that can create things with good visual appeal, and actual value.
Even with better arrangement however, the new Transformer 3D models are also too cluttered / complicated.. which is why I couldnt get into the new movie anyways.
The Optimus toy looks bad. It needs airbrushing, to look more true to life, rather than looking like a plastic toy.

Some new toy pics over at PinballNews lifted from the STERN website...

Just keep your waddlin' between the lines... you don't want to get pulled over. ;)
