Hi there. I am hoping for some advice. I have access to an old sega touring GT box with a rear projector 40 inch screen. It runs at 24/25khz
I want to turn this into a PS2/xbox cabinet with wheel etc etc.
Does anyone have any experience with converting the PS2 composit/svhs/vga output into such a display as I would love to get it up and running.
Thanks
Mark

hmph... I dunno. I've heard of driving it at 15khz but not 25khz...
Some people with medium resolution monitors (25khz) are lucky and there's a "switch" to enable it to be a 15khz mode (cga standard resolution arcade) monitor.
Recently someone made some advance mame/menu scripts to get MAME to work on a 25khz screen but that's not gonna help you with the PS2/console question.
*shrug* If possible I'd try and dig up a manual for your specific monitor and/or report back the specific model monitor it is and maybe a helpful (or more knowledgeable BYOACers) will have a nugget of info re: -> switching it from medium to standard res (or some other alternative like a scan converter box)
good luck!

Aint gonna work... you have two choices....
1) Buy an Standard Arcade Monitor or VGA Monitor
or
2) Find out what monitor you got and I can tell ya if you gots a switchable one.

Thanks for the quick replies. I will get the specs and post them up here asap. I believe its a rear projector style screen.

heres what you do:
get/build a computer that is about 400mhz
use a gfx card that has tv out
get a tv tuner card(that has composite/svideo input)
hook you videogames up to the tv tuner card
use software to set the computers freq. to 25khz
you are welcome ;D

use a gfx card that has tv out
Getting a card with TV-out is not needed. TV-out has no bearing on whether or not a card will output 25kHz.

i don't know why i said tv out ;) but what i said should work shouldn't it? and what resolution do you think that thos monitors are?
