So this is my Tron themed CPO. No, it's not for a Tron cab, I just chose the Tron theme because I like it. Now, I'm going to be playing Mortal Kombat a lot on this cab, but I wanted this neater-looking layout for my buttons. I've labelled them for now so you can see what they would be, but I want to know if you think it should be different. As I haven't made any progress on construction itself (I prefer to plan things like this a lot before actually starting), it's no problem to completely change the control panel. If anyone has any ideas on how this design (both the control positioning and the CPO) can be changed and improved, please
speak type your mind. This will be for my first cab and I'd really appreciate feedback. I don't want to mess it up.
EDIT: Come on, I know you're there. Just respond!

A grid, then. I'll get on it.

Here's the grid.

I think i'd try outlining the solid blue areas instead of having them solid like that. And bits of a contrast color might help.
-
The solid blue is shaded at the edge... it makes it look more like a big button. I would not use any gradients, and instead use some thin black lines on the inside, or same color blue on the outside. Martinjn's post shows that there are a lot of smaller lines.
I love the TRON theme... keep at it! :)

There was a really sweet Tron themed CP I saw on here. What they did was they used some stencils on the back of some plexi for lines and circles and stuff and then spray painted the back of the plexi black and routered out the channels for the lines. Then they lit up the lines with LED's and diffused it with some sort of opaque insert. It looked really, really, f-ing awesome. You should do that.

Yes sir ~ Martijn post is beautiful. Inspiring!
I will give TRON a shot and upload my .PSDs. (give me a week or two)
Keep up the work on your art. with some additional photoshop effects like outer glow, pattern shading with soft light properties you will see a remarkable transformation.

Do this

Yep, same here. I dont know how i found that pic, but it inspired me as well. I am even considering changing my latest build into this artwork.

Looks to me as though it could potentially become quite expensive. Maybe I should change my theme...
-
How do you figure that it would be more expensive? It's the same materials, just need spray on opaque stuff and buy some LEDs. No need for a led controller or rgbs

very nice... vector file is it available for download?

Not sure if there is a vector file available - but if your interested i'm working on a Photoshop raster. All done from scratch in PS CS4
Here's a snippit - I'll make the .psd files available once done.
Sorry to thread jack - but i thought you might like it - since you love TRON and wanted advice [i'll start another thread if you like]
