there are also a few top down, vertical, 2p simultaneous games that are perfectly playable on a cocktail machine.
hat trick hockey, guantlet (2 player), asylum are 3 that are on my machine that I can think of.

All you need to do is redo the default joystick controls.

All of them. 

Go into mame, video options, "cocktail".

BTW you can set dip switches in bulk using CFG Magician (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=88948.0)

Haha aye, that solution is great - but for my intended system 13" crt 640x480 interlace most don't look that hot

Sounds great, I'll check it out

Shame there wasn't any basketball or soccer type games for this setup.

Man, I was very close to using the glass from an old IKEA coffee table for a cocktail machine, but it was just a little too scratched up. Someday I will put one together...
