Title: Anyone heard of Cayle George?
Post by: Mikezilla on July 13, 2011, 03:03:03 pm
A friend of mine got a new job and he said this dude is the world champion of pinball. I tried to do a google search, but my work blocked it.  :banghead:

Anyone heard of this guy? Or is my friend blowing smoke?

I am no pinball expert, so I had to google, but here is what my search came up with:

http://www.pinballrankings.com/player.php?player_id=615 (http://www.pinballrankings.com/player.php?player_id=615)

Don't know if you can see the link, but Cayle George looks to be a big tournament player, but it looks like he placed first in a number of major tournaments. He is ranked 3rd on this site, but I don't know how they rank.

There is also this article:

http://blog.seattlepi.com/thebigblog/2011/06/08/seattles-cayle-george-is-pinball-champion-of-the-world/ (http://blog.seattlepi.com/thebigblog/2011/06/08/seattles-cayle-george-is-pinball-champion-of-the-world/)

So I guess in a Sweden tournament he was declared world champ. I have no idea about competitive pinball, so I couldn't tell you if that is THE tournament to declare the champ.

Anyway, he sounds to be the real deal.

Thanks for that Vigo, I appreciate it. Hm. So there was no smoke blowing to be had. Thats kinda cool.

Why is that Gay PBJ? Cause he was declared champ by a bunch of swedes?

It actually sort of sucks to live right near one of those dudes.  It means at any tournament the whole thing is over the second that dude walks in the door.  Public or private tournaments at parties.  May as well just give the dude your $20 and head over to the punch bowl instead of a game.

Private tournaments are the best way to get access to a lot of nicer collections.  Games you either would never see on location now or HUO games or both.   I guess that's not much of a complaint when we're talking about freeplay on a bunch of really nice machines for a couple hours, though.

Location tournaments are starting to make a comeback.  There is a near monthly one at a small arcade just south of Boston operated by a high end collector.  The machines are ridiculously nice.  There's the pinball division of the yearly Funspot tournament about 2.5 hours north of me.  There is this one (http://www.pinballwizardarcade.com/) coming up this weekend at a location with 60+ pretty nicely maintained pins about an hour north of me.

Quite true Chad. The "TOPL" league up here in Toronto rotates their locations among various big collectors' homes. I've never attended, but if I wanted to play some minty machines, that would be the way to do it.

I had the pleasure of playing in a tournament with Cayle George yesterday. The guy is UNBELIEVABLE. He is the Michael Jordan of pinball. It was awesome to watch him trounce games like: Getaway, Twilight Zone and Shadow.
He is a super nice guy and is willing to share his secrets and strategies.

Actually that tournament had 2 of the top 20 players in the World and 4 of the top 10 in Canada. It was great example of competitive pinball.

I'm just getting into pinball and pin tournaments and in a good location too, so many top players in the North West.
