Hi all,
I've done some work with arcade monitors but this is my first time mounting a decased TV. I've got an old metal nintendo cocktail that I'm doing up and I'm mounting a decased 14 inch tv. I've discharged it and mounted the chassis to a block of wood. I'm intending on mounting the tube to the metal frame.
In all the examples I've seen the tv is always mounted to wood and I was wondering if there were any additional safety precautions to take when mounting to metal?
The metal mounting tabs are safe, correct?
Do I need to put some rubber/plastic between the tube and the metal frame? Between the mounting tabs and the frame?
Essentially, what are the items I need to keep away from the metal case? I'm assuming the anode cap and wire are the only bits I need to keep away specifically but I'd rather check with those experts here.
Do I need to do anything extra to ground it? My limited knowledge would suggest that I shouldn't be.
It's a two prong plug for the tv if that makes any difference.
Thanks for any help..
PS - I should also add that the bottom of the neck board comes quite close to the bottom of the case. Should I be insulating the bottom of the board (ie plastic sheet on the bottom of the case below the neck board)?

You're probably going to need to build some sort of frame for the CRT. Monitors are mounted in a metal frame that mounts to the cabinet. It doesn't just mount to the cabinet with the CRT tabs.
If it helps here (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=83517.120) is a link to some pics of how my son and I mounted a VGA CRT in a Berzerk cabinet.

i own some metal universal cabinet made by adp germany and sega /namco japan. first thing i can tell is each metal part of it is grounded , no matter if its the main cab , a hinge ,the monitor mounting frame or the coindoor. the screen is directly mounted in a frame without isolation . make sure the chassis is insulated properly and if the neckboard is very close to the backside isolation sheet of plastics arent bad either . hantarex use em to isolate the neckboard , sega naomi to isolate the entire tube and chassis area. double check all wires are undamaged and fixed. pay special attention to any movable parts like doors , rotating frames or cables touching sharp edges. for example the degauss wires can be damaged by remounting a tv. i once had an ok baby cab ( china stuff ) , nearly new without a rubber plug on the 220 volt metal plate entrance of the power cord.
