I was a little mystified on a spot on my cabinet where something was clearly ripped off. I have the FCC (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=110282.0) and Serial tags accounted for and am now in the process of getting the FCC sticker reproduced (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=110132.0). Reading the manual for some wiring details tonight and realized what the missing sticker might be.
Unfortunately, the PDF scan looks like ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- (as you see). So anyone with a SEGA cab have a better image for me to work off of? If it's metallic, I might still have time to shoehorn a reproduction with Etienne before he sends the sheet off to the printers.
-
I've seen them in manuals, for example page 5 of Golden Axe here: http://www.emuparadise.org/MAME/manuals/arcade/goldnaxe.pdf (http://www.emuparadise.org/MAME/manuals/arcade/goldnaxe.pdf)
I don't know if you'd be happy to shop one from a different game like that?
-
Once again, I am amazed at the varying qualities of the scan out there.
But I digress. Yeah, that looks like what I want, but what is it? A sticker? A metal tag? How big is it?
OK I know it's a sticker. But that's about all I know about it really. The image I have seems to show a hint of something extra embedded in the label. Maybe some sort of water mark I guess.

Take a look at the Turbo bezel from the MAME artwork to see what you are looking for.

Holy Jebus, SEGA put it on the bezel?!? I didn't even think of checking mine. Mine is cracked so I just dropped it into the parts box and its been there since day one.
I'll have to check it first thing today.

I made a tutorial about this topic in "Zona Arcade. Construye, Restaura y Decora tu Máquina Arcade y Pinball": :) :) :)

Whoah, nice to know I'm not the only one. Problem is... I actually don't have the sticker on the bezel.
I was going to return and respond to my last post but didn't see much point in it. I dug the bezel out of where I stored the cab for the last couple of years. Almost forgot I even had it. To my disappointment, I don't have the sticker. I don't even have a hint of one.
I think I know why. I don't think I have the original bezel. The original has molded ridges and reliefs (which can be seen in the manual and in some online photos). Mine is smooth and plain, looks alot like a generic shroud. Hell, I'm not even sure if the bezel I have even came with the Hang-On now that I think about it. Might've been in the parts box I got with it. I probably just assumed it belonged to the cab.
My point is, my only reference to that sticker is in the manual, and as you can see, looks like crap. :'(
Are you willing to share your working file Mikonos, or at least the original reference photo?
As for the tutorial, I do some questions.
What is, "tienda de impresión, rotulación e incluso a alguna ferretería"? I fed it into Babel but it doesn't make any sense to me.
Also ,"iridiscente o irisreflectante"? Am I to understand the first is of the type you used in the tutorial but the later is mirror-like sans pattern?
-
In the "Hang-On" manual you have enough information for to do a repro.

Print stores, reprography stores, doityourself shop or hardware shop.

Yes, the sticker reflects light like rainbow.

is the sega seal file availble ?

Um...

Moving along....
is the sega seal file availble ?
Based on a number of samples located (not by me), the Sega seal actually varies from game to game. I've been meaning to analyze the seals to find out the correlation. At a minimum, seals are different between conversions and original cabs. Variations also include color schemes, whether Kanji/Kana is used and other minor details.
In a nut shell, what game are you looking for?
-
Could I order such a decal.....?
-
IIRC I believe he was offering them for about 4 euros. Or I could've mistranslated what was said. I seem to remember Babel or Google wasn't too happy with the language there.
Not sure why I never asked about buying two or three. I think because every SEGA cab had a different sticker design and the one he has there was for Shinobi. Regardless, try emailing him, I havn't seen Mikonos in a whe so he might not still be around.
Let me know how it goes.
-

Caveat Emptor.
And Mikonos (by mikonos) has just been banned from dragonslairfans.com, after they tore him a new one... :applaud:
And now banned from here...
There are more details and a link to the Dragon's Lair forum thread in the thread these quotes were taken from.

Wow... that got my attention.
I remember the first posts with his "gallery" but lost interest in it pretty quickly. I didn't even bother following the thread after that so I never saw any of the subsequent posts.
That totally explains his response to my posts here.
In the "Hang-On" manual you have enough information for to do a repro.
The ---smurf--- had no interest in releasing the digital files. Probably would've asked me for my files and kept them for himself.
Oh well, pooh on him should he ever try to return.

Trying to find out more and found this:
Entrevista Zona Arcade "Mikonos" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0PzIndMpH1A#)
I only speak government, anyone understand what he's saying? Is that Mr. Mikonos?
-
Pretty sure that's him talking about cleaning/maintenance on classic cabs, advancing technology, console emulators/MAME, and the place that videogames have in culture.
Apologies if I missed key points -- translating it was like getting a drink from a fire hose. :lol

Found a version of the sega stickers here (http://vectorlib2.free.fr/stickers/#Sellos_de_licencia%20Sega).

...and here (http://arcadeartlibrary.com/arcade_art/search.php?search_keywords=Sega+License+Seal+layout) too ;)
I made them starting from the Shinobi bezel available in MrDo's website and the "Turbo" bezel. The first one corresponds to games like Shinobi or Wonderboy (it looks much better than the other one).
-
Where were you two say... two years ago?!?
IIRC the one with the stylized edging is the closest style. I'll have to pull my restoration notes..

From what I understood....this is what you are looking for.
I need to wait for my tools to continue the dismantleing of the cab. I then will remove the plexi and try to make a quality image....scanning could be a problem as it is on bent surface....

Thanks for the image, synonym9.
Taking it as a reference, I've modified the previous version to reproduce this one. Not perfect but pretty good :)

I have the bezel disassembled now, if you still can need it i make a better image of it now.
How to use your work? I need such a reflecting sticker and then your decal is to put on that reflective sticker?
If so, where to buy such stickers?
-
I'm looking for some kind of laser-printable holographic paper as well to make these.

Found several possible leads using keywords like reflective, iridescent, prism, prismatic, etc.
Holographic tape 1 (http://www.ebay.com/itm/1pcs-UPICK-1-4-5-Prism-Hoop-Holographi-c-Tape-Metallic-Adhesive-Packing-A1522-/181186626766?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&var=&hash=item2a2f9084ce)

Not sure where you can get this locally or in small quantities, but this (http://sell.lulusoso.com/selling-leads/1119477/reflective-decoration-sheeting-diamond-pattern-FZS-.html) reflective sheeting looks lilke a promising lead.
5.Printable, you can print on surface directly. Screen printing,Digital printing or other printing methods are all possible;

Maybe somebody is also interested in that:
http://s1298.photobucket.com/user/synonym999/media/Hang-On%20restoration/20131115_000641_zps5acbce10.jpg.html (http://s1298.photobucket.com/user/synonym999/media/Hang-On%20restoration/20131115_000641_zps5acbce10.jpg.html)
If so I will provide a high-res scan as I want to reproduce it for perservation anyways.
Next week I get my Hang-On NOS-gauges (2 pieces) I also will scan them so if any one wants to restore his Sega cabinet he can download it and apply it on a plexi-plate and will have perfect gauges!

I'm sure that the art restoration gurus around here would love to get any high quality scans/photos that you can provide, especially if you include a ruler for scale so they can make everything the correct size. :applaud:
AFAIK the only repro'd Hang-On art is the side swoop (several places), the Sega seal stickers, and the marquee. (Joymonkey's paysite)

Thanks. I could not manage it setup an account.....but sent a mail to the guy.

If you want to buy a Hang-On marquee, Game On Grafix (http://www.gameongrafix.com/products/hang-on-marquee) and Emdkay (http://emdkay.net/catalog/hang-marquee-p-537.html) carry them.
If you're looking for sites to host your files, the Arcade Art Library (http://arcadeartlibrary.com/arcade_art/) and this (http://vectorlib.free.fr/) site are both great choices that allow free access for others. ;D

I read that EMDKAY is closed right now.
