Title: Best filler for wood defects

Just ripped off laminate from the side of my cab. OOps and some of the 1st layer of 3/4 plywood I would like to paint it but want to make sure i fill in all the defects, cracks etc. What the best filler to use for the least amount of $$$

Sawdust, from the wood to be filled, mixed with clear drying glue. Or if you're painting it, then any sawdust/glue mix.

I use automotive bondo. It dries hard and sands easily. Really cheap too.

The best wood filler I've used is called WunderFill, you can get it at Rocklers.

It's not cheap, but it's BY FAR the best filler I've worked with.

The crap you get at Home Depot just doesn't even come close.

But that's for actual furniture work where you'll be staining the wood. If you're just wanting to patch up damaged wood that you'll be painting, Wood glue and sawdust works well, or just about any filler will do for that.
