I'm vacationing in Myrtle Beach all next week (4/23 - 4/30) and was thinking of making a day trip to Charleston and just walking around with my Canon 7D. Can anyone give me definite spots to check out down there? I'm not looking for anything in particular...just neat little sites to photograph.

Brookgreen gardens near MB is very beautiful for nature/garden/landscape photo's. It is pricy though to get in. Have fun.

Thanks! I did Brookgreen last year, it was very nice. Got some great shots there, I think. It is pretty pricey, though.

The swings

The swings? What/where is that? I'm not familiar.

You know, The Swings
Just kidding, I have no idea. I am curious too.

TopJimmyCooks, are you from down there? Any idea what condition I can expect the blooms to be in? I was there in June last year, and I was really hoping to hit a nice spring bloom this time. The first time I was down there was for the end of white bike week, and all of black bike week in late May and everything seemed to be a little past prime. I've been in March, Late May (bike weeks), December, July, and June.

Aww...Man! I LOVE the swings! The monkey bars are great too!

Vigo: Hey, Top Jimmy cooks, Top Jimmy swings. Need I go on?
Stu33: I'm pretty sure this is a reference to Dawson's Creek TV show, which was filmed in Wilmington, The apparently did repeat scenes at the swings on 5th Ave and Park. I haven't seen the show. I haven't been to the park. Plenty of good photo ops in DT wilmington, but no better than Charleston.

Charleston Waterfront Park has a cool pier that has a lot of porch swings on it. Lots of cool photo-ops there. They have a nice pineapple fountain too

While driving around Charleston/Mt. Pleasant one day we found this little beach access road:

It's kind of a neat little spot nestled between Fort Moultrie and Fort Sumter, and being situated near the mouth of the harbor you get a very wide view of the whole area, including the bridge. The little rocky outcrop there would make a nice spot to take some pictures from.

Have a boil while your there... one of my favs

Great suggestions everyone, thank you so much.
The shot of the fountain is a very nice one, btw.
