Title: Defender sideart wanted!
Post by: Carsten Carlos on August 27, 2003, 05:47:17 am
Hi there!

Not for me but a friend who has selfbuild a Defender cabinet.

Can't find it on the web - has anyone a hires-picture, or better a vectorgraphic of the Defender sideart? I know it's spraypainted in original, but it's still rather complex.

I'm just about done with a vector version if you don't mind waiting a few days.

Is there any chance of me getting a copy of your artwork as well? I've been trying to aquire a set for sometime now. Mahuti talked about letting me download his set but it never came to pass.

Hey, thats great!  :D I'll happily wait - just keep us informed :)

@Nannuu
By the way, had a look at your "toyshelf-room" -wow, that looks great, reminds me of a victorian house! :) Say, are these wallpapers or is it some special kind of wallpaint?  :o Very nice shelf, too - really love it!

Hey I finally have all of the Defender art up on my site.  I hope it works for everyone.  The bezel and marquee are extremely large since I used a real space jpeg.  If anyone wants to improve on them feel free!

Nope, not wallpaper, just plain old satin paint from Lowes.  I rolled on the lighter red first then went over it with a much darker red using a 4" brush to create a textured look.   :)

Wow, thats really good work! Thank you so much!

Just forwarded it to a friend (the one with the selfbuild Defender-cab) - I'm really curious about his reaction! :)

BTW, the textured look of this room is really impressive. Maybe we should do the same with the arcade/partyroom...

No problem, glad to do it!  Although looking at your bezel I am now not so happy with what I made.  Definitely missing some stuff!  If you don't mind taking some closeup pics around the monitor I could make it little closer to the real thing?

How much work would it be to make a stencil version of your vector files?  I think that would be a nice alternative for someone who didn't want to have all those graphics printed out, and it would also add a nice authentic touch since the Defender artwork was painted on.  I imagine all that would need to be done would to be separate the the different color layers to individual files, and then have a common reference point so each color stencil would line up.

Like this Joust stencil, for example:  http://www.arcadecollecting.com/caga/sideart/JoustSideStencils.zip

What does it mean when it sayd the parser module cannot parse the file? That's the PS error I got when trying to open the stencils....

I'm an artwork noob.  ;)

He only had this little graphic here and pumped it up for printing, since no original bezel were available. His cab is a selfbuild one like mine - so no original parts there!

Today I'm his translator, so this message is meant to come from Houdini itself!  ;)

I don't know!  I just checked and they wouldn't work for me either.  I've redone them and now they work on mine so hopefully it is fixed. :)

Cool!  I'll try to rework it to make it look better.

Thanks!
