Title: Have I Lost My Mind? (CRT Monitor Dangers)
Post by: Woodshop Flunky on April 02, 2011, 11:42:25 pm
I have a CRT PC monitor that I want to mount in my upcoming cabinet build.

My plan is to remove the plastic housing and mount the monitor onto plywood using the four corner brackets.  This would make mounting in my cab much easier, and give me more options for the bezel.

I've read a bunch of horror stories on the internet, and I'm about convinced myself to ditch the CRT for an LCD.

However, the CRT looks SOOOO much better than the LCD to me.

What do you guy's think?

Take off the back of your monitor and chances are the whole monitor has a metal shield inside that still prevents you from contacting any bad bits.  I have never decased a PC monitor that didn't have an inner shield.

I would LOVE that... sadly, mine is not like that.  I popped the back off, and it's all open country!  I'd nearly pick up another 17inch PC monitor just to find one with with the sheilding you describe.
