I was wondering if original games tend to have detachable control panels? Some of the doors in my house are 30" and I think having a detachable control panel would just make the machine easier to move in general.

Most cabs... no not really. Not in the manner that would make it easier to get through a door.
For those that do or should.... depends on the cab. Some cabs are a given. Others are a don't bother.
Find the specific cab then find out more about it.

the only ones I can thik of off hand are the midway cabs (mortal kombats, killer instincts, nbajams, etc) There are more, I just cant think of them. Most older "classic" games dont have a CP wider then the cab

They almost all do. Especially if the panel is wider than a door way.

You might want to place my quote in context there. Keep reading, there's a second sentence right after that first sentence. Hint, they're related.

Has a detachable panel. Four bolts hold it down, comes right off.

Doesn't have an easily detachable panel. Panel is bolted down and uses a piano hinge.
As you can see the top one would have to have a detachable panel in order to get it in the room.
