If there is something I've learned in the past couple days, (besides paths, objects, tracing and pain) it's that engineers don't always make the best artistic decisions. ::)
I have been through several different themes to cover my new NorthCoast Ultimate Bartop II, but once I start the layout, things never appear quite as good as they are in my head. I love the early 80s art from my era of Arcade: Moon Patrol, Galaga, Galaxian, etc. What is the general consensus regarding redesigning old style CPOs for 6/7 button layouts?
These are my current designs with a few caveats: I know the CPO is a little rainbow-y; but this was a design element on the original CPO. If anyone has actual templates for sideart and CP for the UBII, I would be extremely grateful. I know the marquee somewhat squished. It is really tough to fit something meaningful in 2.5" of space that is 18.25" long.
Any comments?

Oh, I know how you feel. Straight lines and right angles are the engineer's friend! ;D
Keep in mind that this is an engineer's opinion, but I think your art looks pretty darn good. On the CP buttons: you could try a larger radius on the corner outlines and just a round outline on the 7th button - just a thought. It's not bad the way it is now.
