Title: STERN METEOR

Took in a STERN METEOR as somewhat of a CARE package.

Deader than a doornail.

Where is Sean Connery when you need him?

Upon further inspection Rectifier Board is hacked beyond belief.

No R1 And no R2! They are completely absent from the Rectifier Board laying in cement chunks on the bottom of the cabinet. Various power wires, grounds, and General Illumination wires were cut from the connectors and soldered to the back of the board.

All is not lost, however, after rebuilding the Rectifier board and replacing the burned connectors with IDC Panduit types, to speed up diagnosis rather than crimping ( only temporary ), game is fully functional.

Fully functional, that is,  but not very pretty.  With a little work and some capital it could turn out half way decent.

It is one of those games that was bought for $100, needs about $100 in parts,  needs $300 in labor, and will sell locally for $500 if we are lucky. Such is the state of pinball at this time.

Great job saving that one, it's a classic for sure, but oh lawdy the humanity of those LEDs!

I agree that the LEDs look like the Sun in the pics but in person they really aren't near as bad...

The blue LEDs in the upper right and left corner playfield  plastics give them an eerie 3D effect that my old cell phone camera can't convey...even better in the dark...

All I can say is I SAVED this game from the dump... I spent 8 months of my free time... and some of the bosses' time too... working on it...AND lost money out of pocket on the parts I put into it...

But you know what... I DON'T CARE... I had a blast working on it.. I learned a ton about these games... and I got to play it for 6 months too... Also,  the people who bought it are tickled pink....

 That's a WIN WIN in anyone's book.
