well maybe not "finished", but it's playable!
i originally based my cab off of the lusid design, but my friend's brother is a carpenter and he's the one who cut the wood for me and he changed it a lot to make it better (or so he said).
the TV is a 25" apex i got for cheap. the picture quality is better than i thought it would be through the s-video (radeon 7500 in the computer). it fits perfectly into the cab (1/4" clearance on each side) and i run the sound through it to.
the computer is a 1.3ghz, 512mb machine i built. so far i haven't found a game it won't play.

this was it yesterday

we wired the CP today. you can see the incredible job my friend's brother did making the front end of the CP curved instead of squared off.

my friend was so impressed with my CP he thought I had gotten it premade somewhere.

two friends playing bubble bobble 2, they loved it :)
i'll have more pictures later, but what is everyone's opinion of it so far? suggestions on my next step?
my todo list is:
-touch up paint and add some kind of molding on the edges
-bezel to hide the TV
-marquee/light
-coin door
-side art

May I ask what those popular probs are? Just to keep my eyes open. (bought an Apex 24")
-
Those popular problems are the following:
Doesn't power on automatically when you unplug it and plug it back in.
(Although i used the button on my surge protector and it does turn back on!)
And when you turn it back on it doesn't remember to stay on s-video. You have to manually go to that channel every time you turn it on :(
Still cheap though! :D

huh? How did you ge this to work? PLEASE PLEASE give us details.

I have a surge protector made by powersentry. After I plug the tv into that and turn the power of the surge protector by pressing the button on it, it turns off. Then I press the button back on and the tv comes back on.
Not sure Why it works with the surge protector and not the wall outlet ???

i'm wondering about the Apex tv. I need a cheap monitor/tv for my cabinet, and was curious about eyestrain. The original TV that was going in it was terrible. eyes burned for hours afterword for everyone who played. Of course it was made in 1986. I was surprised it even had RCA jacks.
anyway, my vid card has s-video as well. Is apex decent? would you recommend smoke plexi in front of it as well?
