Regarding sound, look on your board in the upper right you see that white plastic thing with a + in it? (like a screw). You can turn that for volume. Use a plastic tool if you are worried about slipping and touching something, since its easier to adjust with the game on. Also be very careful not to touch anything related to the monitor, there's lots of high voltage in there.
To secure the board, you can use screws and blocks of wood, and / or "pcb feet".
What other advice did you want?
PS: Use periods so we can see where sentences start and stop. Makes it easier to refer back to questions you asked. They don't teach this stuff in school just to be annoying. It makes people better communicators.

Hi there
Sorry for the bad punctuation. I have turned the volume up all the way and it's still very quiet yet the blast sound effects are really loud. Was also wondering how the coin slot mechanism works as mine does not register coins being put in. Also is the screen supposed 2 flip for second player as mine does not.
Thanks

Coin issue: Is the game in free play mode? It wont register coins if it is. If it's not, there's a switch with a little metal wire that activates when a coin hits it. Check that. Flick it down with your finger til it clicks. Does that register a credit?
Sound: I have no idea what's going on here, but its obviously not the speaker or the wiring...
Screen flip: You need to find the manual and look up what the dipswitch settings are and then you set the board to cocktail mode. This will be either through a box of tiny switches on the board itself, OR through "service mode" menu in the game itself. (Again, the manual will tell you how to access this menu)

the little black switch on the coin slot does work but appers to have the wire snapped off of it. how would i know if it were in free play mode? i have installed a switch instead of the coin slot for now to add credits
any ideas where i would find a manual?

ive found the dip switch settings and now have the screen fliping

Sorry for the bad punctuation.
There would have had to actually be some punctuation for it to be bad. ::)
any ideas where i would find a manual?
Every online source that I know of for manuals/pinouts/dips is in the Restoration section (http://wiki.arcadecontrols.com/wiki/Restoration) of the wiki, but I don't think I have ever seen a Super Space Invaders manual in any of them.

Don't forget that the Japanese name of the game is Majestic Twelve. You might find information with that name.
P.S. I love that game!!

Well I've got the screen flipping now as I found the dip switch settings on a site. Could anyone tell me what is supposed to happen when I flick the power switch. At the mo it just turns off the screen. I know this because I can still here the sound effects. Was wondering if it was supposed to turn it all off?
Thanks

Hi
Well got the table up and running. Well until last night there was a big spark from what I assume is the monitor power board and now the CRT no longer displays . Is there any way to replace the CRT or would I be better off turning it in to a mame table? Any help will be greatly appreciated
Thanks
-
Sure you can replace the CRT but it will be expensive. You have some descisions to make. Do you want to restore the cab or mame it?
If you are going to get serious into this hobby now would be a good time to learn how to run a multimeter and a soldering iron. Repairing old CRT's seems to be what a majority of the repairs these old cabs take imho.
-
I would much rather try and restore it. I have some soldering skills already as I do a lot of Pc repairs. Also i know a little about multimeters. Can u point me in the right direction as what to do next? I have no idea where to start
Thanks
-
The spark may just have been the flash of the fuse popping.
Replacing a monitor is not expensive if you are getting another used one. Try to get connected with other local collectors.
-
Ok well getting another CRT won't be a problem. it's just fitting it in with all the other boards etc.
-
I guess I should've said getting a NEW one would be expensive. ;D If it were me I would try fixing the old one first before going after a used one that may have probs of it's own.
Not sure what you meant by "it's just fitting it in with all the other boards etc." The monitor and all it's "boards" are surrounded and connected to a frame which just bolts into the cab. Pretty straight forward to unbolt it and pull it out of the cab.
Let me say too that I'm no expert on monitor repair. There are quite a few of them on these boards however. Even more over on the KLOV forums.
Do you know what kind of monitor you have? Have you looked on the monitor's pcb's to see if you can locate any burnt fuses or other componets? You are aware of the high voltage that these things can zap you with even with them being unplugged?
Check this out to see if it helps:

Thanks alot m8 that is a great help :). I think I have located the problem looks to be a component on the board underneath the monitor. Going to try and take it out tonight and find out for definate if it is a component. will post up some pictures later today hopefully.

Look up how to discharge a monitor first!

hi guys
managed to get the board out have included pictures. there appears to be a damaged resistor. could this be a possible cause of the problem?
could any one point me to a resistor that would replace this one as i cant see the colours to identify it.
