Hi guys. I was wondering if some of you could help me put a price on my wii lot. I have had it for a year and a half or so and I just don't play it very often and could use some cash. I want to put it on ebay as a lot but I'm not sure what to set the reserve at.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. The wii and all of the Wii games are in excellent shape. Except wii sports which had a run-in with a bad disc re surfacer but it still plays fine. All of the gamecube games work fine but some have minor surface scratches.
Thanks for your help I have included a list incase the pics are had to make out.

look up the price of everything on gamestop.com then scale it back about 25% for a rough estimate. I tried to sell my softmodded Wii with a TON of games (legit Wii discs) and a 500GB HD (with the games I have already installed) , 2 Mario Wheels, 2 Light Gun holsters, 2 GameCube controllers, a AND 2000 wii points for a little more then the cost of the wii and had no takers, good luck with it though
-
It will be a bigger pain in the arse for you, but you are far better off selling everything individually.
Trying to sell a bundle that big is going to put it in a price more than people are going to be willing to spend, especially when most of the time someone looking for a Wii is mostly just looking for the Wii. Especially considering that almost half of it is GC games.
-
Yeah, just sell them all individually, and hope for the best. I did the same thing for my Sega CD lot on another forum. Even though it's not a current gen system, trying to find someone who will take all the titles you have as opposed to letting people pick and choose what they want, didn't really pay off in the end.
Besides, if you're smart with your pricing and offer a value that's below Gamecrap's used prices, you might make more money that way.
Good luck!

Thanks guys

do you still use a shill bidder?

Eh, it's been 3 years and we've all done dumb stuff. Shill bidding is a fact of life - if you don't like the price, don't bid.
TRANSLATION: Don't buy anything from either of these guys, because they think shill bidders are 'a fact of life'. Thank god for karma.
I think what you meant to say was "just hope that missioncontrol doesn't remember how much of a lying dooshbag you are, even though it's been 3 years!"
-
Damn, I can't remember if I left the house yesterday. How do you remember a shill bidder from 3 years ago?
-
I didn't use a shill bidder , he was a local guy who had bid and then told me he couldn't pay, After i re-listed it he called up and told about his circumstances and that his brother would lend him the cash and all but begged me to unblock him when he saw that i had i re-listed it.
I told him it was fine if he paid in cash within a day or two, which he did.If I were a dishonest seller I wouldn't have 100% perfect feedback.

regardless of that, you have to understand it still looks and smells fishy looking at it from outside the deal. And 100% feedback is great. But doesnt count for much if the lister and shill give each other positive feedback to keep things looking on the up and up.

Come on now, I'm sure all people that use shill bidders come clean and post it in the item description!
I'd have to say my favorite shill would have to be the tall greasy haired freak in the back of the auction, bidding on his own games. You all know this guy, there's one (or 5) at every arcade auction.

oh come now... do I have to pull quotes you made about this?
-
I really don't give a damn what you think. I just came here to get an idea on what to sell it for. Hell I didn't even end up selling it on eBay anyhow. It was sold to a family member. I"m not wasting my time or board space to get in a stupidass message board war over this stuff. Life's way to short I'm over it.
-
do what I do...sell things cheap cheap(usually)
I give people deals they cant refuse lol..if I dont care about something I have Id get rid of it asap before the value goes down
-
ok...I might be retarded, but what is a shill bidder?
And rlemmon, why are you so upset/pissed about it? :dunno
-
A shill bidder is someone who creates a separate eBay account to bid on your original account's auctions, thereby artificially inflating the final sale price. I can't speak for rlemmon as to why he's upset about it, but I would think it has to do with someone accusing him of being what essentially boils down to a scam artist.
-
Ok thanks, thats what I thought, but wasnt sure. This is the only forum I check out, so Im not used to a lot of terms etc used here so I have to ask stuff all the time. :lol

No, it's a way to get a bid price higher without having to set a reserve. The belief is that bidders will get 'auction fever' and think they're competing against another buyer and increase their bid. E-bay complicates it a little because you can toss out a max bid much higher than the current price, so the seller can use a shill to chip away at that max and increase the price.
Thing is, if you have some discipline and only bid what you're willing to pay, tactics like bid shilling, reserves, and sniping won't do a thing to hurt you.
Close enough.
-
Close enough.
PBJ doesnt read before replying, you know that.
-
I more took issue with the 'scam artist' remark than I did his explanation (which was simplistic).
But generally your statement is correct.
It was my intent to be simplistic, as I was explaining it to someone who had no previous knowledge of the subject.
How is 'scam artist' incorrect? A shill bidder scams regular customers to pay a higher price than they would have if the shill bidder had not been present.
-
I would consider shill bidders scam artists. There's no way you can explain or defend that kind of action.
Guys who bid on their own games at auction? Scumshit. If you don't want to sell them at fair market value, keep your ---goshdarn--- games at home. People who do it on internet auctions? The same or worse. I don't know how anyone could condone or see this kind of action as warranted or legit. Even doing it to avoid ebay fees is dishonest, as it circumvents the system. Don't like the system? Don't use it.
Some real estate agents have been caught using shills to bring up prices on house deals. A couple lost their license over it. I knew one guy that got caught, and he really, honestly thought he was doing the right thing, trying to get the most money for a listing. He didn't see it as stealing an extra $10,000 off a buyer, he was just selling higher and making more commission. I honestly think he even said something to me along the lines of "if they didn't want to spend that much they should have kept to a maximum bid price". To this day I don't think he is aware he is in the wrong. He went from $80,000 a year to a job at best buy selling cellular phones. (true story). I don't know what best buy pays, but I'm guessing not $80K. His wife ended up leaving him, and he lives in the basement of his own house, as his mother in law moved in upstairs with his wife to take care of their baby.
Moral of the story? Don't be a ---goshdarn--- shill.
-
Yup. Thats a good moral. ;D
People and money man... Makes you do bad things.
-
Agreed.
Sharks are ---uvulas---.
-
I think it's better to be educated about reality than indignant.
If you want to go swimming, you better learn about the sharks.
A criminal by any other name....
Honestly I think you're insulting sharks here.

-
Now it's criminal?
:laugh2:
QUOTE:
What's to stop you from posting an auction on online auction site Ebay and then bidding on it yourself from another fake account to boost the price? Nothing, if you don't mind the idea of breaking the law and possibly facing jail time and a $7,500 fine when you get caught and convicted.
But hey, as long as YOU think it's not illegal. RIGHT?
Oh and :laugh2: back atcha, jackass.
-
Here's why your analogy makes absolutely no sense: 1) I never admitted to going over the speed limit, and 2) I'm not defending going over the speed limit in a public forum.
-
If you're not defending it, then wtf are you arguing for??!? Seriously, do you even read what you type? I'm saying it's illegal, and you say that's laughable. Someone said that people using shills were 'scam artists' and you said: I more took issue with the 'scam artist' remark than I did his explanation
I mean seriously, if you're not defending it, what exactly is your whole point in arguing with everyone in this thread?!?!?!
