Im sure everyone knows that when they load a game, they have to go through the boot up sequence of the Rom.
But I had an idea in which that when someone would exit any game, it would save-state right on exit, and would load state on loading the rom. So that a player would not have to go through all that boot up sequence ever again!
Or has this already been done? or is this some sort of automatic thing in Mame I haven't discovered? or am I just being a total loser?

That would be useful for those Deco cassette games. Man do those take forever to load.
However, for most other games I just see it being more of a hassle. Because if the game messed up, locked up, or otherwise went stoopid, it would keep returning to that state until you manually deleted the state file.
You MIGHT be able to mostly accomplish this by mapping your exit button to save state as well, and then adding a "quick load" button somewhere that you could press as soon as you launched the game.

Well, don't have a save state on exit but more a single save state that is at the main logo screen of the game or whatever.. Somebody could come up with a save state archive for all mame games so you never seen to see rom checks/bootup stuff etc etc.. Not that it's such a hassle but it'd be nice to not have to see ever again :)

Save state resets the high scores to whatever they were when you saved the state. I personally like my high scores.
