I went to my local Home Depot looking for 5/8 MDF.
However they had none.
Does it even exist ?
Looking online it says it can be very hard to find.
Lastly, would anyone suggest either for or against using 5/8 MDF for a Nintendo Control Panel ?
Advice, tips, tricks ?

It does exist. I have build my entire scratch build Donkey Kong cabinet from it (www.donkeykongarcade.blogspot.com (http://www.donkeykongarcade.blogspot.com)).
MDF is very easy to work with and very smooth for painting. I would say, go for it if you can find it.
Else you could just use plywood, since it's only the control panel.

Appreciate it, thank you.
I picked up a Nintendo cabinet with the intent on making it into DK JR.
It has a DK3 CP. The panel is metal, so I need to make a new wood one and paint it black.
I was hoping MDF would work out.
So glad its just an issue of tracking it down, sadly I wont be able to do the cut for the tmolding.
But I wont sweat it.
PS - I've seen your blog before, awesome stuff !

It took me a great deal of time to find 5/8 MDF.
Your best bet is to find an actual lumber yard in your area; retailers tend not to sell it.

I'm having the hardest time finding 5/8" MDF as well, I've called just about everyone. I got 3/4" for the cabinet, but want 5/8" for the CP + 1/8" plexi.

Been having the same problem locating 5/8's...but Mountain has a Chamfer fix for 3/4 ;D
Here we go:

I finally found a lumber yard that can special order the 5/8" for me. Although, I won't get my hands on it until next Tuesday.
