Hey all,
Well I know a few of you guys are fighting game freaks like I am, so I thought Id just post a little bit about the new playmore Neo Geo game, Snk vs Capcom.
First of all, somehow they messed up the response on the controls, pretty badly too. The only move that works every time is a fireball, all of the other moves are a little dodgy whether you can pull them off or not including uppercuts. Charging moves have a major issue that you sort of have to hold the second direction for a second while pressing the button to get the move to come out, example, a Guile flash kick, you hold down for 2 seconds, and hold up while pressing kick for a second.
The combo system in this game greatly reminds me of King of Fighters 2002, a lot of pre-made combos that have a lot of variations. A major note in this game is its VERY combo heavy if your playing in the more tough crowds such as the dudes over at Akihabara in Club Sega (electronic central of Tokyo) Some of the combos are cool because they sort of sped some moves up so you can do a little more with the combo, such as Kyos double jump kick move, you can go into his big fire super from that.
One thing that is a little dissapointing, although I believe with some more experience playing it Ill have it down, is the evasion of a corner trap. There are no rolls in the game, there is only quick get ups from the ground, so Iori has all his moves from Kof2002, and you cant roll out of the way, you just have to somehow knock him out of his routine, or block. But there is a nice little manuever that costs a super bar, where you press CD while blocking, and you will go through whatever theyre hitting you with and hit them with a strong attack, although this pushes you forward sort of like a roll.
I might post more about this later, but my time is running out at this internet cafe, and ILl be back home Tuesday morning anyways. Feel free to ask questions, Ill try to answer what I know, like the desperation moves that Ive seen and stuff, and all the secrets characters like Zero and the alien from Metal Slug.
Im very excited for this game to get emulated, since no arcades back home have MVS systems, so I can get good at it and be ready for my bro when he comes home during Christmas. And if you think I dont support Neo Geo, my bro just bought Kof2002 for 250 bucks.. yes....

From what I hear the versions out at the moment are still only beta's. The issues with move execution should be ironed out eventually.
I think they really should have built the game from scratch though, with a small number of characters, instead of recycling more KoF material. Too much of Playmore's work feels 2nd hand these days. Maybe thats all their able to produce now, I'm told that much of the talented SNK artists and programmers were snapped up by other companies.

OK, Im back in the states now. 3 weeks of japanese goodness is over with.
I hope your right Molloy, if they iron out those control problems, that game will kick some serious ass, cause it has a combo system very similar to Kof2k2 but the linking is nuts. I was quite dissapointed that they didnt even try to redraw any of the Kof sprites they ripped, but I was very impressed by some of the Capcom characters, like Dhalsim looks freakin awesome, his hands do some crazy twisty shiat, Demitri is freakin awesome looking, the Metal Slug alien is freakin awesome. Im out

OK, I've seen my fave Cap character Sagat in action and all is forgiven. :)
This game is looking sweet. I really like the way they've drawn the SF characters.
