Title: What Wood To Use
Post by: Darren01274 on June 21, 2010, 07:12:03 am
Hi I am going to make a Cocktail Cabinet and thought about using Black MDF so I did not have to paint it, seems you can no longer get Black MDF. What is the best wood to use and what
is the best paint etc to use.

If you want that "Black MDF" look, you can buy MDF, laminate it yourself with some black laminate, and go from there.

is used 16 mm black mdf for a bartop project . i clear coated every part of it with acryl paint . the advantage is u dont need much painting nor t molding . the appearance isnt 120 % ultradark black , coz " black " mdf usually has some brighter i would call em microscopic dropouts. colored mdf is available in red , green , yellow, blue and more. i advise clear coating with professionell car paint. unpainted mdf looks more like grey than black.

for bartop or cocktail purpose its no bad choice at all , but a fullsizer would be a little 2 expensive.
