Title: Custom marquee, opinions please?
Post by: Jawn on June 14, 2010, 07:30:27 pm
Threw this together to match my black and green theme (black cab w/ green tmolding). Thoughts? It's the eh... "Pick Yer Poison" Arcade. Lol
Be brutally honest, give me some good criticism please, thanks :D

Honestly, I think the concept's interesting but the graphic seems to be a bit of a weird mashup of styles, that don't really seem to fit together very well.

The lettering is flat and kind of artsy, but the beer spigots are photo realistic, and then the mug looks handdrawn.

And the lettering seems kind of haphazard, but not intentionally so, more like there just wasn't enough space.

(you did say be brutal  ;) )

That said, I like the idea. Maybe render the game logo's in 3d and brassy them up to make the spigot? Change the mug to a real photo or something. and line up the lettering better?

Just a few things to throw out there.

Thanks haha. I think the game logo idea sounds pretty good. The mug actually was a photo but I ended up putting some filter on it, (honestly i forget which and why). I'll probably redo the text and work on the taps to make it all fit better, as that's something I really hadn't thought about. Appreciate the input so far ;)

No probs. I do like the idea. Have you seen the kegacade (not sure that that's the name, but it's a cab with a kegerator built into it).

Then put a REAL tap on it someplace 8)

Guaranteed party favorite, even if nobody likes arcade games!

The taps disappear into the black background.

The Joust logo should be a little jousting bird instead of the name, just to match the theme of the other taps.

Yep, found a joust sprite to replace it finally. Working on making all the graphics "flow" better, and match. The taps I'm not sure what to do with since they do fade into the black really badly, but it's hard to find a good tap image to replace them with, that wont cover up poison too much. Idk

You might want to add some kind of light pattern to the black background, that way you can still have black taps, still have a black background, and maybe be able to SEE the taps.

Good point, and it will also light better that way you think? I have a 18" flourescent walmart light.
