New Batman: Brave and the Bold videogame trailer is out. And just a warning, this is not supposed to be Arkham 2, this is based on the tv show which is marketed toward 8-12 year old boys (which I think this game is perfect for).

I was hoping you meant Batman: Bed and Breakfast.....
-
Looks interesting.. I like the old-school vibe. If Batman was to be voiced by Adam West I'd say...SOLD.

Looks interesting. Is it purely a platformer?

I wish I was allowed to talk about it, but all I can really do is point out resources that have information on the game. The latest Nintendo Power has a 6 page article on the game titled "Seven reasons why Batman: The Brave and the Bold: The Videogame will be one of the greatest superhero games yet." in which they describe the gameplay as "cut from the beat-'em-up cloth" then they go on to describe various attacks in the game.
I thought it was a great article, but then I'm a bit biased :)
-
Well, I may have to help a brother out and buy a copy :)
-
speaking of beat'em ups I am ready for a new final fight game with today's tech but still left with the classic 2-D toach.
I was buggin capcom for a few years about making the 2D fighters again and see what happens and out of the blue came street fighter 4 in 2D
I am also ready for another 2-D castevania.
they may have them for portable's I am sure but I mean the wii 360 and ps3
the new castlevania for the 360 looks cool but I would have rather had them do it in 2-D as the 3-d versions are just not the same feel.
-
There is a newer Castlevania (Rebirth) on Wiiware. It's old school for sure.
-
It's like I stepped back into the 90s.
Mario
-
yup you did.
kinda funny I mentioned a final fight and stopped in at my parents place yesterday and my younger sister had the new game informer and low and behold there was a new final fight in there it either was to be released yesterday on the 10th or it was july 10th but there is a new final fight finally on the way :applaud:
final fight golden axe and pit fighter were some of my favorite beat'em up arcade games back in the day and I alway's hoped they made another pit fighter and still hoping they do so today.
-
There's a reason Pit Fighter got left back in the 90s....
-
sure it had its flaws but there was alot of potential to make a 2nd or upgraded version that much better.
none of the console based one's were even close to the arcade feel either.
I still wonder why they have not made somethng close to it but improved.
-
our local acade had it set for hard and there was alway's 3 players on it constant wich made it that much funner for us perhaps.
it died off when the newer street fighter champion edition and MK came out but still one of my arcade favs.

From what I saw in the trailer, it seems like you actually will "play" some of the episodes of B:B&B...

Hands on at E3: E3 2010: Developer Walkthrough - Batman: The Brave and the Bold (http://www.gametrailers.com/video/e3-2010-batman-the/101780)
-
And IGN's take on it: http://wii.ign.com/articles/109/1098535p1.html (http://wii.ign.com/articles/109/1098535p1.html)
While we can't imagine this one taking over the gaming scene, Batman: The Brave and the Bold definitely scores points with charming animations, a great sense of humour and gameplay that's at once accessible but deep enough to hold longer interest with older gamers. Keep an eye on this one.
-
Have you no shame? :lol
Looks great.
Did you attend E3?

Ya, I got to go yesterday, but we have a big deadline coming up, so I'll only be going the one day.

I thought you quit the game programming biz???
Tried to, but not enough jobs within a decent commute from my house. Pretty much every job listing is looking for Senior programmers, and I only have around 18 months of professional experience. The one job I thought I was almost guaranteed to get was a county job, but before they hired me, the county put another freeze on all hirings, only allowing promotion from within.

I noticed that the game has the whole "zap" "Kapow" thing going on when the character hit a bad guy...
Do 8 to 12 year olds even know what that means? do kids even read comics now? I haven't seen any reruns of the batman tv show either.
The game looks fun

Sold!
Love old school type games.
The show isn't bad either, except for that musical episode...
Someone should be hung for that one.

New Trailer :)
You don't have to plug them anymore ;)

Hehe, true, although it's still cool seeing peoples reactions to a game I helped make :) Early reviews seem to be mostly positive (with the exception of IGN) so it's cool to end on a high note. This is also my first game thats getting any real advertising and promotions, so it was cool to go to McDonalds yesterday and get a Batman toy.

Did you ask for a 'developers discount'?
-
Joystiq reviewed it today. They liked it.

@Atomsmasher
They gonna hook you up with any free copies? I think a random drawing for BYOAC members is in order. ;D

Haha. Generally I only get 1 free copy of the game, which I keep sealed on my desk (I just like keeping sealed copies of the games I've made). I have to buy any other copies I want, the same as you guys.
-
Though, I don't imagine you are particularly inclined to play one of your games much after how much time you've already spent with them.

That's why they remain sealed. Doi!

The game is great!
I just now got to play it,
and the cartoon quality animation is amazing.
Love how they talk amongst themselves during
the actual game play instead of lame cut scenes.
This is where I always thought video games were going
back in the old days before the 3d polygons.
Cartoons you could play, this game is a taste of it,
and I hope we get more like it.

Got news for you, it markets really well to 8 year old girls too :)
Got it for myself, but true to form my kid has to see the new Wii game too. Immediately liked the dialogue between both heroes and villains, but also like the "pick up and play" style as well as the fact that it was automatically two player. Have to be honest and say that I didn't know what to make of it at first, until we got deep into the first episode where Robin is turned into a cat. My little girl laughed until she cried, as did I, but I loved it...thought it was classic 60s style Batman humor!
My wife even enjoys it, primarily again because you don't have to remember a lot of control sequences to be successful at it. What I mean is that while training with Wildcat is useful, you can get through the levels pretty well by just knowing how to punch.
I mean no harm here, because as I said, the game itself is a lot of fun, just as it is....but because I like Black Canary, Flash, etc., I wish it gave a little more control over those characters (and maybe it does further in - we're only to episode 2).
All in all, would have to give it an A just for the fun in playing it. Highly enjoyable! :D
