Title: x arcade help
Post by: markt on May 08, 2010, 06:58:04 pm
I am putting together a mame game, as my computer skills are limited I am running mame32v103b with no frontend.
From what I have read this seemed to be the easiest way to go.
I bought a x arcade tankstick, when i go to the controller configeration there is no drop down for x arcade and it wont work when i try to run mame.
What do I need to do to use this with this version of mame?
Thanks

I have used an x-arcade tankstik for several years and the easiest way is press tab when mame is running and then setup all your buttons. It works fine.Mame will create a file called default.cfg and then you can back that up in case you have to redo your system.  ;D

Without a front end, you will have to use a keyboard or mouse or another controller to go up and down your game list. Or you will have to remap controls. The X arcade has no escape or arrow keys.

I downloaded the attached .cfg (rename it to .cfg) file from X-Arcade (Xgaming.com) and put it in the ctrlr folder of my MAMEUI64 directory.  Then you can choose it as a controller from the options.

Also you CAN use the left joystick to move up/down.  The numlock key has to be turned off (or on, can't remember) and then it works fine.

Also while Taylormadelv is correct in that none of the buttons are mapped to Escape, you CAN press the 2 player button + the right pinball button (the one closest to the player) at the same time to exit from a game

hope this helps! :)
