Check MAWS:
http://maws.mameworld.info/maws/ (http://maws.mameworld.info/maws/)
"driver status  preliminary" usually means it doesn't work yet

It's not a NeoGeo game, so having neogeo.zip isn't gonna make a difference. I believe this game is currently not working in MAME.

However, and someone correct me if I'm wrong, I believe it was sort of working at one point, perhaps around MAME 0.98? Unfortunately, there's no sound, and it frequently crashes from what I've heard. Probably not what you're looking for, but maybe better than nothing.

There's an unreleased (I think) emulator called Supermodel that supposedly runs this game well. I'd like to play this game too, and have searched for that emulator, but have never found it. Was that thing ever made available at anytime? Does someone have a version of it kicking around? I think it's ok to ask for emulators here, right? ;D

dgame is right and nitz too, it looks like.

Checking Maws for Star Wars Trilogy, it looks like there are two roms:

    swtrilgya     Star Wars Trilogy
    swtrilgy     Star Wars Trilogy (Revision A)

You can click on each one to see when it was added to Mame and when it last changed.  Here are some notes:

WIP:

    * 0.133u1: Renamed (swtrilga) to (swtrilgya).
    * 0.102u3: Added clone Star Wars Trilogy. Added missing cpu3 and sound2 roms to (ver A).
    * 21st June 2005: Ville Linde - I dug up Supermodel after over a year and ran some test runs with Sega Rally 2. This helped me to find a small bug in the MPC106 emulation. Fixing that small problem had some very nice results. Now both Sega Rally 2 and Star Wars Trilogy are working in MAME!
    * 0.89u1: Added Star Wars Trilogy (ver A) (Sega/LucasArts 1998). Some basic 2D hooked up, nothing more.
    * 25th May 2004: Ville Linde - Got Star Wars Trilogy to go ingame. It's fully playable in the Supermodel emulator.
    * 8th March 2004: R. Belmont - Dumped Sega's Star Wars Trilogy.

Other Emulators:

    * Supermodel

Googling Supermodel emulator didn't show much beyond posts in 2004.  I'm sure there's a copy somewhere but it doesn't appear that it was released to the public (not that I could find).  You may try torrents for it.

I'm sure if anyone has it, they can post it here.  I'd be interested in it too.

Last post I saw:

1.2.2006 - 1st February 2006

Just an update for those of you who are wondering what the current status of Supermodel is (as I get a few mails about it)
Supermodel is on hold indefinitely, development is continuing apace but has been moved to M.A.M.E. as it has been deemed to be an easier place to debug the many problems the Model 3 system has thrown in the path of the team.

It wasn't released, it isn't anywhere, it no longer exists.

MAME is the only current emulation option, and the game is FAR from playable in MAME.

Keep using your original PCB instead for now.

Too bad. That is literally the only arcade game that I would really like to see emulated that isn't already. Ah well, I'm sure it will be someday.

It's very surprising the star wars trilogy arcade game never made it to a console/or PC.  The game was great.  That and the Grid are the only 2 "unworking" emulated games I care about.  I got a feeling we are still a long way from seeing those games in working form.

Just wondering, with modern hardware, any advances on the emulation of this game ?

I see some videos of this title on youtube, it appears unplayable  :-\

Apparently the supermodel emulator is being worked on again, so there is hope! You can read about it on mameworld.

Yep, for the past few months they've been working on it again and posted some very promising pictures (sega rally 2, virtual on 2, daytona 2, virtua fighter 3...)

Yeah, people forget that hardware isn't everything, some games just aren't all the way there yet software wise

I wouldn't hold my breath.  Supermodel is the only "vaporware" emulator that I've ever known of.  It's not to say that it doesn't exist, it does, but it is more akin to Duke Nukem Forever in that the author refuses to release it until everything is "just perfect".  DNF took 16 years and the destruction of the company to finally get an official release date, and super model has been around for less than 7.  By the time you don't care anymore it'll be released.  ;)

It's unfortunate really, because in general at least, progress is made on an incomplete emulator when the public gets to play with it.  The users will nit pick any little thing that is "off" and thus bugs are found more quickly.  Of course it could be that zero games are in a semi-playable state, but judging by the screenshots we've seen over the years, this is not the case.

Just for the record btw, swt hasn't ever been playable in mame.

Swt run's on Sega supermodel 3 with full sound support of course the only thing is it's all command lined but it's easy to put all the Command's in a text file
