So I just cleaned out my office closet, and had one of these new and unused in the box. I put it with my console stuff and like an idiot threw out the box.
It's not one of the knock-offs, it's the authentic Sega brand one. What's one of these worth? I'm thinking of selling it to get a couple of things for my renewed Atari 8 bit collection.
Any suggestions?
Offers?
;D

$5

$5? Wait a sec, let me just apply a quick little formula...
HarumaN offer * 15 = sold.
;)
-
* 15? Keep sniffing that glue... :D
-
That's how it works - I go high, buyers go low and we meet in the middle. And what's wrong with sniffing superglue?

How 'bout 5 * 15 *.1 ?

CHeap ones go for $20-$50, the real deal Sega banded ones are a lot more obscure and worth more. Looking at eBay I can't even SEE any offical Sega ones listed.
-
This is the HKT-8100 model...
-
Works great - just hooked it up to my Viewsonic VP171b monitor and the picture is nice and crisp:
-
to be honost they sell for $100.00+
they are rare nowaday's and were only released in japan so they are somewhat of a collector's piece here in the states.
they easily sell for more then the gamecube component cables.
-
I appreciate the honesty. Now I'm doubly pissed I just threw out the box!
-
now its USED :laugh2:
despite the fact its rare, its not in demand as much. I got a 3rd party one, it was bright Orange, that works great for $25 shipped on eBay. To be honest, it was more then I wanted to spend on it.

I think it's more accurate to say that people try to sell them fore $100+. "Dreamcast VGA" is one of my daily ebay searches and although they don't come up often, when they do, people try and fail to sell them for over $100. I bought mine in the $70-$80 shipped range.
Oh, and if it makes you feel any better, I don't think they sell any more often nor for a higher price with the box.

Great for collectors...
But if you just want DC VGA, there are options that work just as well (for $20-$30)...
-
yeah I use the hais one with mine and it was around $20.00 shipped.
I also have one where I made my own vga port and soldered it to the motherboard and gutted the modem and put everything in it for around $5.00.
I also had the one made by arcadecabinets.co.uk that is no longer available for around $65.00
I have seen the official sell for $80.00-$120.00 on average and not just on ebay or amazon either there somewhat a collector's peice and any third party or home made pricing has nothing to do with the official version pricing at all.
kinda like the n64 adaptiod the originals are $80.00+ but you can get the knock off's all day long for around $10.00-$15.00 shipped
-
So $75 isn't too bad to ask for it. If some rich dude can pay $30K on a crappy 2600 cart on eBay, this isn't unreasonable...
I'm also up for trades - looking for Atari 8 bit stuff:
- SIO2PC usb version
- 1010 program recorder (need SIO cable and power)
- 1030 modem (just unit is ok)
-
$75.00 is a good fair asking price.
-
Whelp - the glue worked just fine - just sold the VGA box for $100...
Wish I could have stocked up on these!

Yers doesnt have a port on it ?? :dunno

Interesting mod, who did that?

Mine is the same but instead of the internet jack I have the vga port in it's place and built the pcb inside of the modem case since it come''s off easily and I did not want to hack up the main case in case I needed to go back to stock for some reason I could just put another stock modem in.
Also if you goof up something your only out a modem instead of a dreamcast case and having to swap all the guts to another type thing.

Well, looks like I have yet another project to add to the list...
