Title: My new standing cabinet

Hi! I wanted to show everyone my project here and see what you all think of it.  :pics

This is the second machine I have built actually. I think I even posted pictures of my first attempted build here, but I have lost track of that thread. Basically, although that first design was sturdy and completely functional, it was FAR too light of a cabinet to have any actual *fun* on, so into the fire it went. Thus, project TWO!

This is a far heavier design and very stable, so none of the problem I encountered on my first design. I try not to stray too far from lightweight or manageable design when I build things, and this is a good balance between 400lb giant pieces of furniture and something I can move around my studio with relative ease. It even fits nicely in my kitchen storage cabinet!

I didn't consult any real sources on either of these builds or have any specific model that I fashioned it after, so I think it came out fairly unique. I like the idea of having a table type design to set drinks on, but I didn't want chairs in the space I will generally be keeping it.

As for the button layout, I was trying to be even in distribution. Can I get a critique on how I did? It's a bit odd I know, but I was trying to keep as many options available for both landscape and portrait games, and for both right and left handed players. To avoid confusion for players, I have installed LEDwiz to light the appropriate game controls.

Oops the speaker popped out of it's hole.

I used parts entirely recycled from leftover lumber, my girlfriend's old Dimension8100, and a donated 15" LCD television (this is the only part of the project I am sort of dissatisfied with - the TV has a blind spot in it's viewing angle that's a bit annoying - and new 22" LCDs aren't that expensive these days. Maybe next project.  ;D). The only real investment was the buttons, joysticks, spinner and LEDwiz.

So, I am looking for your reviews! Lay it on me!  :woot

p.s. it still needs another coat of paint, I know.

Nice something different but my neck feels sore just from looking at it.

How comfortable is it to play?

I'm trying to think of something to equate it to. Stand by your stove. Does your neck get tired when you cook?

Do you look into your pans all the time?
Besides, my stove is at 1m, this looks more like 75cm or so.

I like it!

It's original and you think outside the box and try something different  :applaud:
That is worth an extra plus either you like the design or not..
Please do another project and give us more progress pictures.

Looks pretty good, esp for a cab meant for tight spaces. I think the screen could have been angled a bit and still have kept things small, but, the way it is, it can double as a high coffee table too, right?  ;)

I can definitely see some probs with that first interation, but I still like the use of existing pieces in it (I'm kinda a keen on recycling old/completely unrelated stuff into something new).

I'm looking forward to V3 too!
