Title: Where to find cheat file for Galaga 88
Post by: Blanka on February 25, 2010, 04:02:58 pm: I'm so totally done with the red ships coming back up from the bottom destroiing my triple-fighter, I need to cheat!
Who has a cheat for Galaga 88 that I keep triple-ships forever, till the endboss?

I googled a lot for cheats, but 80% of websites don't know the difference between cheats and hints (the no-shoot challenging stage secret bonus is no cheat!), and all things that smell like cheats link to the same dead page: http://cheat.retrogames.com/ (http://cheat.retrogames.com/)
Anybody know how to really cheat?

Dead Page? There is a download for the latest cheat files for MAME there (v 0.136 or later).

Install the cheats properly and start the game with -cheat or (cheats enabled in the UI version) .. use the cheats to select ship type desired and flip on invincibility. Works for me.

2 things with the Galaga 88 cheat:
Don't shoot all ships in the bonus with the perfect bonus cheat on (you can turn it off again during gameplay if you accidentally shot all)
Turn off infinite lifes after you killed the endbos, to see the end credits. Otherwise it will give you infinite bonus for the remaining lives.

Don't know where to put the file for Mame OSX though (the location of the application and the location described in the file are not correct), I only got it to work on MacMame.
