Title: Any way to extend shaft of Happ 8-Way Competition Joystick?

I was looking around for anything that would allow for an extension or longer joystick for the Happ 8-way comps. Any ideas if this is an option and if so what is required? I'd rather shell out a few bucks to extend the stick than have to route out any more of my panel bottom.

I have a "Versa stick" from GroovyGameGear.com at home that fits a Competition joystick.  I can measure it when I get home, but it may be longer than the normal Competition shaft.
