The pic in that article appears to be for New Super Mario Bros. DS.

That is the funniest thing I have seen all week.
Thanks!
:laugh2:

"Nintendo says it was able to trace Mr Burt using sophisticated technological forensics after the game was uploaded to the internet."
:laugh2:
/dns jburt ?
That dude is Canadian. "Mr. Burt" is Australian.

I wasn't actually trying to make you laugh though! I thought it was an interesting wake up call...
-
wake up call for what? if you are dumb enough to sell or distribute games then know you about get owned.
-
"James Burt, 24, of Sinnamon Park in Queensland will pay Nintendo $1.5 million after an out-of-court settlement was struck to compensate the company for the loss of sales revenue."
Must be nice to be 24 and have $1.5 million to offer as settlement. Actually, I wouldn't mind just being 24 again without the $1.5 million. Come to think of it, I'd take the one $1.5 million without being 24 as well. Any combination of those would be fine with me. :)

Well, maybe not a wake up call per se. But we all download stuff. It comes from somewhere. One of those 'somewheres' just got his arse sued...

Something is not right here.
Why someone with 1.5 Million AUD would be distributing games illegally in first place? It doesn't make any sense.

I think it is more like this:
Nintendo pays Queenslander 1,5 million AU$ to PRETEND that HE uploaded Super Mario Bros Wii and scare the ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- out of any Australian TEENAGER, where it was actually done by a big shareholder/Nintendo employee itself.
Never trust these messages!

I seriously doubt that Nintendo would pay 1.5 million in any currency format to anyone just to spread fears that pirates will be caught.

Don't you guys live in the States? You've never heard of anyone getting sued for magnitudes more than they actually have?
-
I've never heard of anyone settling out of court for magnitudes more then they have.

You could settle out of court for 1.5 million you don't have, or go to court and lose 15 million you don't have. Where's our forum lawyer? ;D
