RECENT UPDATES...November 2015 Thanks to the massive efforts of member "bootsinallovryou" our PGA Tour Golf machines now have the ability to connect to an online server allowing us to compete against one another on tournament leaderboards. A step by step tutorial to enable tournament mode for these machines has been provided by member "Spitfire" and is posted below. You can read how this started and track current progress starting from page 13 (post #499) of this thread. To join in online you need the latest patcher_04 linked below and a regular team challenge machine. No other machines will work. On the attract screen run the patcher in your cd rom drive. Once it says press any key to continue turn off and power up your machine again. Once back in attract mode go to the operators menu by pressing the red operators button inside ur cabinet. Be sure to have your machine connected to the Internet by plugging in an Ethernet cable directly to your cabinet Pc ethernet port. If you are using wireless be sure to configure your wireless connection as per the instructions before trying to register. Choose register/connect option, register cabinet and register your machine using the 4 digit code option using any four digits as it doesn't matter. Make sure you change from Dial up to cable adsl option and follow on screen instructions and allow the machine to call server. This may take a while first time to get to 100% complete. Once registered choose the force a call to the server and exit to game option and that's it. You should now be tournament enabled and online. To play online in a Tournament or the World tour option on your cabinet. You will need a players card and reader. You will also need to turn your machine off free play otherwise you won't be able to select World Tour and Tournament on the start screen. This has to be done in the operators menu by choosing machine and settings option and disabling free play. Once you select World Tour it will ask you to insert your player’s card. It will say that the card is not tournament enabled and will run you through a number of steps to make it so follow instructions and your card will be made tournament ready and you will be given a player number. Now you can use your card or number on any machine linked to Boosts Server and your home made player can be used to play every course on the game without having an all access pass. You will be able to unlock hidden skill shots on every course to unlock special player customizing items and equipment. Once all courses available on World Tour are played you will be given a player ranking and it will also unlock heaps of customizable clothing and equipment to use on your player in the Game face option of the game. You can also keep track of how many skill shots you have found and your ranking by inserting your players card into your card reader on the attract screen of the game. There are now also leaderboards available so you can show the world you are the best player out there. All this is thanks to are Legend known us boostinallovryou!!! without him none of this would be possible! DONGLE EMULATOR INSTRUCTIONS I didn't come up with the process, or create the files. Lou and others over at the Facebook page paved the way. I recommend signing up for the Facebook page if you haven't already. https://www.facebook.com/groups/444981388985690/ Here are the basic instructions for using the dongle emulator for Team Challenge: 1) Have Team Challenge running to the point where it says you don't have a valid dongle (if you need the files to get you to this point, they're available through the facebook group) 2) Insert a disk or usb drive with the HASPHL2007.exe file and Team Challenge.dng files (available here - https://www.dropbox.com/sh/gqbxb5g1wwl79k5/AAC4k4qpT47DsueU2eTpl6Z2a?dl=0 ) 3) Create a new folder on the C: drive and drop those two files into the folder 4) Open the HASPHL2007.exe file Under “Driver” tab 5) Click “Install Driver” - driver should install 6) Select Automatic 7) Click “Save State” Under “Emulator” tab 8 ) Click “Start Service” Under “Dongle” tab 9) Click “Load Dump” 10) A window will open, locate the Team Challenge.dng file, select open Under “Emulator” tab again 11) Confirm that the license field is populated That’s it. Restart your game without a real dongle attached and it should work. If you're running a different version of the game and have the .dng file, the process is the same. I still haven't figured out how to convert a .dmp file to .dng. If someone could share that info I'd be grateful. SERVER UPDATE INSTALLATION You guys ready to point your machines to the new private server? I have finished the automagic pointer and tested it on my machine with success. Here is what you do: 1) Download the iso from here: http://www.filedropper.com/pgaserverptr 2) Burn the iso to a CD using any tool you want. Nero, WinISO, ISO Recorder, Windows Image Burner, etc 3) Put the CD into your machine's cdrom drive and reboot the game 4) You do not need to touch anything. No keyboard, no mouse, nothing, the cd will do everything for you 5) You will see a boot menu, countdown, lots of verbose output while booting, etc. At the end of booting you should see a line that states that the machine was updated to point to the new server and you should eject the cd and reboot your machine. Then you will get a "#" command prompt. 6) Because the linux kernel has the cdrom mounted you will not be able to eject it so just turn your machine off, turn it back on, and eject the disk before it boots off of it again. There is no harm in running the cd over and over. 7) That's it Here are a few important notes about this ISO image: 1) I am not responsible for any damage it might cause. You use at your own risk. (Had to put that disclaimer) 2) This was created as a derivative work of Trinity Rescue. Trinity Rescue is licensed under GPL v2 thus this derivative is licensed under GPL v2. Basically just saying that Trinity Rescue gave permission for me to modify and distribute this under the GPL v2 license. 3) This was tested on my bone stock Team Challenge machine. There is no reason this shouldn't work on other versions but just saying I could only test it on TC. 4) This ISO in no way changes any of the game code. There is only one change and that is to a windows config file. 5) This ISO assumes you are using the stock GVR computer that has its hard drive connected to the Primary Master IDE bus. If your hard drive is set to slave or you have it on the secondary IDE bus this ISO will not work for you. Just change your hard drive to Master and make sure it is connected to the Primary bus. 6) Make sure you set your connection method to "Broadband, DSL, Cable" 7) If you are not using the stock computer and have your own windows installation rolled out then PM me and I can give you directions on what to do manually as you already have access to the box. You will still need to download the ISO.I think that about covers it. I have the server "half way" up for the next day or two as I make some changes. The server is still up for you to test connect to but you will not get a "Successfully connected to GVR servers" message. This will be fixed in a day or two like I said. To tell if your connection is working just do a test call from the service menu, if you get a 50001 error you did not see the server. If you get a 40001 error you did connect to the server but it did not authenticate you (because I am making changes). WIFI SETUP Wireless connectivity: I actually connect my machine wirelessly (I know that isn't a word) right now and have plans in the next day or so to connect it to the internet via my cell phone for further testing. To connect to my home network I have taken an old Linksys WRT54G router and flashed it with DD-WRT. This allows me to set the router up to be a wireless bridge. A wireless bridge is just what it sounds like, it bridges two physical networks using your current home wireless network. I put the router on top of my machine and connect it to the PC with an ethernet cable. Then anything sent from the machine gets forwarded to my home wireless router and vise versa anything needing to be sent to the machine goes to the wireless bridge and then to the PC. There are plenty of step by step write ups on the internet about how to do this. Cellular connectivity: To test from a different network and with tighter firewalls (cell networks do not allow initial traffic to come to the cell phone, all communication must be initiated by the phone) I plan to use my cell phone to connect my machine to the internet. To do this I use the same wireless bridge as I do for my home but instead of bridging my home wireless network I turn the hot spot feature on in my phone and bridge that. So my phone has now created an ad-hoc network and the wireless bridge can bridge to that. Just another way of testing. Another note on server pointer ISO: The ISO I put together was done as quickly as possible. I did not make it robust with error handling, or even looking at the return values from calls I make. This means you can get a message that says the redirect was successful even though about that line are error messages. If you see any errors just let me know what they say. If you see anything that says "Disk is dirty and was not cleanly unmounted during last windows session.....fixing...." That is ok. That is expected. Just wanted to make everyone aware that the success message will always appear. Course unlocking: During my investigations I came across an area that had course names like "Tigerized ", or "Fantasy ". Are these the unlockable courses you guys are talking about when you were referring to server course unlocking and the All Access Pass version of the game? I am not familiar with what courses were unlockable and what was new in AAP. But if I stumbled onto something let me know. Course additions: So......I think all of what I am doing is just the tip of the iceberg. I think the game has a great software base and it appears it was written so courses could be added by the server. With that said what if it was possible to not just play the current courses, but make new courses!! I think it is completely possible and another thing that is rattling around in the back of my head. But first things first, got to get a solid server underneath us and get some tournaments going :-) Let me know how it goes. SERVICE MODE/BROADBAND SETTINGS Make sure you change your connection method to broadband instead of dial up in service mode also Go into service mode, scroll down to "Register | Connect", Select sub menu "Actions", Then on right side scroll to and select "Configure Connection" button. Configure connection menu will appear. Highlight and select "Connection Type", change to Broadband and select done button. Then in Actions menu select Force Call (Manual). MORE SERVICE MODE/FORCE CALL You get into service mode by pressing the red button on the little metal bracket that has the volume control and sound amplifier. Open the coin door and look inside, it will be facing you. You force a call, register, unregister, etc from the connection menu in service mode. I can't remember off the top of my head what the name of the menu is, but you use the left and right buttons to scroll up and down. Each menu will have sub menus. I think it is like the second or third from the bottom. Pretty obvious once you get in there. As soon as you enter service mode the first screen you are presented with will let you know if you have a cabinet id or not. CABINET REGISTRATION Here are the steps: 1) Download version 0.2 of the patcher from here: http://www.filedropper.com/pgapatcherv02 2) Burn it to a cd and insert the cd while the game is in attract mode. You should see all success messages and no errors. 3) Remove the cd and reboot the game. 4) Go into service mode, Connect/Register, and select option to register the machine. 5) On the next screen select the 4 digit code registration method. 6) The screen after that will be an empty dialog box. Press start to enter the code entry screen. 7) Using the trackball and start button choose any 4 digit value you want. The server doesn't care what you choose. 8) Select done on the next couple of screens. You will also select your timezone, connection method (Choose Broadband), and dial in times. 9) The machine will then connect to the server and register. You might see it hang at 5% for a bit of time, this is normal. You will get a success message like above. Now your main service screen will show a valid cabinet number and status as registered. When you exit back to the game you will see the green tournament enabled message on the bottom left and a green "last successful call" message on the bottom right. You are now registered!! The next thing for me to do is finish a little bit of code cleanup, some daily dial in code, and then I should be able to start a tournament. When that happens all your machine will have to do is make a daily call and it will get the tournament info. Please be patient with the first tournament. I will be finishing code that syncs everybody. I might not have code in the right spots and your awesome #1 stats might get lost. The first tournament will be at beta quality. Will need a few days to get that ready to go. Please let me know what everybody's experience is when registering. CABINET UNREGISTRATION AND REREGISTRATION Hi Boost - Spitfire I need some help please. I reinstalled TC. Ran the Patch 4 file and restarted. I then go to the operators menu to Register Cabinet. The is the second time that i am registering the cabinet on the server. The first time the option was Register Cabinet. The option now is Restore Cabinet Registration. If I do that it goes to 5% and stops. The PC in not frozen. Left it for about 10min but %bar not moving past 5%. I restarted and tried again, but with no luck The Cabinet ID is 30032 Is there any other info that you need? Thank you so much I had the same problem on my cousins machine. Look on page 33 for sherman8ors solution. You have to unplug dongle, attempt modem test, go back to main menu, it says unregistered, plug dongle back in and then register like new. Works like a charm and will register again as normal. TOURNAMENT REGISTRATION Ok just finished moving everything from my test machine to the real server. Here is what you do: 1) Download patcher iso image and burn to cd. 2) Put cd in running team tournament game. Black screen will appear with status and tell you when to eject cd and reboot game. 3) Connect game pc to your router 4) Go into service mode and if your machine reports a cabinet id then unregister it via unregister button. 5) Register machine via register button and then select 4 digit mode button. Choose any 4 digits you want. 6) After registration completes successfully.....it better hahaha....Force a call via force call button. 7) Return to game. After returning to game it might say a scheduled reboot is required and counts down....let it reboot. Enjoy the tournament! Remember....machine must call in to get info and give info. Because the machine doesn’t run 24/7 you will want to force a call each time you boot up. Also learned you MUST have free play off or else you cannot play a tournament or world tour **MISCELANEOUS TROUBLESHOOTING IDEAS** CHALLENGE VERSION NO GO Ok so tried to enable world tour on my challenge machine and I get the same error as Rs Boost. I think the best think is to stop wasting time getting challenge machines to work and concentrate on the latest version team challenge as this is working perfectly. Let boost concentrate on populating the leaderboards on team challenge. All with challenge upgrade to team challenge. The disks have been made available on this forum and those with no dongle I think there is a work around emulator which is available through this forum also. However I have not tested this. March 06, 2015, 13:41:41 » I am only going to focus on Team Challenge as Challenge is do able in the future, but it just has too many differences to try to juggle at one time. So with that said, it's time to get coding VIDEO CARD REPLACEMENT Hey guys, I am a long time lurker but new to the board. I have a question regarding Team Challenge. I was having some artifacts issues and booting issues that I discovered were the video card (I believe TI-4200). I purchased a GeForce 6600 which has removed the artifact issues as expected. The issue is with the new card is the menu resolution is messed up. It looks like it is at 640 x 380 or something. Does anyone know how I can change the resolution? The actual play graphics are now flawless...I highly recommend this card as an upgrade. The 6600 is a great upgrade for anyone considering changing their video card. I purchased it for $18 shipped from Ebay.
