Guess it's time to dust of this old topic again . . .   :lol

Why is having the joystick aligned the same as your buttons fail? You are also standing off to the side as a third or fourth player.
The fail is not that the stick is aligned with the buttons.

The fail is that the stick is not aligned with the monitor.

Almost every 4 player game had the sticks aligned like the ones in green.
- There were very few games with sticks angled like the one in red, and those titles were not well received.
Related thread: https://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,87347.msg1301886.html#msg1301886

There were some 2-player titles that angled the sticks, specifically Virtua Fighter and Virtua Fighter 2.   :puke
- Offered as proof of that assertion, a picture from the VF2 manual.

You can learn to adjust to angled sticks, but that involves compensating for the angle of the stick and your body position relative to the stick.
- Big guys need more elbow room, changing where the players stand, which changes their angle relative to the stick.

If the sticks are not angled, up on the stick is always perpindicular to the line described by the face of the monitor.
- Up on the stick is always up on the monitor regardless of where you stand.  The direction you push the stick matches the action on the monitor.  This makes it easier to hit the desired direction.

Some companies did things like un-angled sticks that stood the test of time and some did things that did not.

Ah, that's a good point !

I actually ported those Model2 outputs to be used with MAME when they first released 0.278 with Model2 game support.

But as it was not DemulShooter related, I shared it to some people for testing but never really advertised for it....

Just download and use the zip package I'm joining in below (there's a Readme inside explaining everything)
These are simple LUA scripts to be used with MAME to create outputs, DemulSHooter is not needed for that.

Thanks for that.

I thought that using LUA might be a possibility, as you have the cheat system for finding memory location in MAME already with many cheats already pinpointing needed memory locations.
I was looking at the MAME documentation last night but wasn't sure about outputting the messages and I haven't used LUA yet.

Working great, thanks. Just need to dial in my recoil value.  :)

Also, check out arcade auctions in your area.  You might get a good deal on an original non-working cab.

Thank for all your work Argonlefou.

Just curious if there is any consideration of adding your custom outputs to mame now that it's Sega Model 2 emulation has improved so much?

I know MAMEdevs won't add outputs that aren't authentic.

There are a million places you can go on the internet to argue with strangers about ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- that doesn't matter.

Forgot to mention that I got the answer, and it was basically "no". Seems the idea is to delete that forum.

Are light guns "there" yet? I have the ultimarc ones but need the crosshairs enabled as I could never calibrate them 100%

Yes.   Sinden, RetroShooter Reapers, Gun4IR, there are event wireless ones now (X-Gunner I think?).

I personally use Retroshoter Reaper RS3s on my cabinet, and they're pretty dang good.

9   Audio/Jukebox/MP3 Forum / NSM Emerald ICE, Half fixed, need help :)on February 09, 2026, 11:47:20 am

SO I picked up an NSM Emerald Ice,
Keypad not working so took that apart and replaced the useless nylon pins that disintegrate with some wire instead, now it functions.
CD player also functions perfectly
BUT

Now getting an 90,91,92 Error, so removed all the titles cards and lubricated the slides.

Now when I turn on the machine I can get the slides to move ONCE and only once, they move really nice and freely so they are certainly not jammed.
After this I just get a 90 error message and cant get them to move even with no title cards in place

I can see from peering into the device that the pin on the 'counter wheel' / cog is not aligned with the opto coupler.
Unsure if this is the issue? If it is I don't know how to move the counter wheel as it wont let me when using the button as it just comes up with a Er90, even though I know the slides can move nicely.

Any help much appreciated! Is there any way to 'clear' the error message!?

Although you mentioned you want a pre-built, I built my cab with just a circular saw, jig saw and router. So..,.. just missing the router and building your own is far more rewarding😀.
