What theme are you using?

Memory Lane time ... probably my favorite arcade of all time was the Starcade at Disneyland, kind of under and off to the side of Space Mountain. Adventures Through Inner Space emptied out into a gift shop connected to it. Played a lot of Tron and Crystal Castle there. Also played a lot of Gauntlet at the penny arcade on Main Street.

Played a lot of Crazy Climber at the local Smith's Food King, became one of my favorite games of all time.

There was an all you can eat pizza and pasta restaurant deep in Fullerton or Yorba Linda (can't even begin to remember the same after all this time) with a comic book store next door that had the 4 player X-Men machine set to give 4 lives for a quarter, and a buddy and I ate there frequently, specifically to go to the comic book shop and plop in enough quarters to make it all the way through! He always played Cyclops and I always did Nightcrawler.

A donut shop near my junior high had me gaining skill in Gorf, Vanguard and Astro Blaster at different times.

A burger place during my later years on Knott Avenue always included a few rounds of Ms Pac-Man.

The arcade at Knott's Berry Farm underneath Knott's Berry Tales became a later favorite when I found they still had a Crazy Climber after it had long vanished from everywhere else!

Interestingly, that later led to frequent dreams where I would be at that Knott's arcade, just to play Crazy Climber, or stumble across a Crazy Climber machine elsewhere, and joyfully settle into playing a few games. Then a few years later, I was working a security shift, playing around on my computer, and came across MAME for the first time, and downloaded and played Crazy Climber, and then suddenly said "I'm playing Crazy Climber again! I must have fallen asleep, and this is just a wonderful dream!" Took me a couple of days to fully accept that no, this wasn't a dream, and it was now possible to play Crazy Climber (and all the other games) again!

ooh I love the retro aesthetic of that! Great work, I'm sure he'll love it!

What type screen do you have in that? Is it a vertically mounted TV/monitor or something?

Thanks! Yes, I really wanted to use the old Atari VCS as inspiration, so there had to be woodgrain somewhere.

The monitor is mounted horizontally, not vertically. It's just a spare HP lcd I rescued from being recycled years ago.

I tried to compile mame with new tools but I get two errors
- python is not available in PATH (solved somehow)
- MINGW32 is not set

Any advise what I should do to set msys2 correctly ?

Hi everyone,

I’m building a custom arcade-style jukebox using Raspberry Pi, ESP32, RFID tags, and arcade buttons. The project combines retro gaming aesthetics with modern [https://digitalmonk.biz/custom-arcade-game-software-development/]arcade machine software[/url] for interactive music control and smart automation. Users can tap RFID cards to instantly play playlists with LED lighting effects and a classic arcade feel.

Features include:

RFID music selection
Arcade button controls
ESP32 + Raspberry Pi setup
LED effects
Touchscreen support
WiFi connectivity

Currently working on adding coin acceptor support and retro game launcher mode. Would love to hear suggestions from the arcade community.

That is a heck of a nice glue line!

Hah ha, it never ends does it?

Nope! But I love that for it. There's always so much going on in terms of both hardware and software development within the vpin niche, and always something to be inspired by. It reminds me of the enthusiasm and innovation that was so prevalent in arcade emulation and cabinet building 20 years ago.

But for real, grab some of those Rollies while they're available!

All changes worked as expected. Tested on a Pi 5 with Bookworm. Thanks!
