Need help with touchscreen

<< < (2/3) > >>

Hoopz:
I honestly just got a touchscreen via Fedex yesterday that has the same connector.  When I first saw your thread yesterday, I thought that it was an odd connector.  If you need any details off of the power brick that I received, just let me know.  Sounds like you have it figured out, but just in case.

Thanks Hoopz, but I've already ordered one now that I hope will do the trick. It's actually for an Acer Aspire 1800 laptop PC but matches the specs I've looked at. I imagine the adapter specs will be a little different for this to other touch-screens as this is integrated with a PC so may have higher power demands than a touchscreen monitor on it's own.

If however it doesn't work out, I will contact you about the one you had.

Cool.  I failed to mention that mine is for a POS also.  I wonder if that connector is used more often in those types of terminals?  I had another POS that turned out to be a different kind of POS but it had a regular PC power cord.

Turnarcades:
So, the power adapter arrived yesterday and as crap luck would have it, it's not working. The power adapter box has an indicator light on to show it's working wen I plug it into the mains, yet the second I plug it into this system, the indicator light on the power adapter box goes off, and sure enough I can't turn the PC or monitor display on.

Is this system I bought just no good? I'd imagine if there was an issue with the power supply inside the PC it would just not turn on, but why would the indicator light on the transformer box of the power lead turn off when plugged in (even though the system power is turned off by the switch on the bottom)? The ac adapter I bought was 7.9A, not 5.5A as I later discovered on a sticker on the unit, but the amp rating being higher shouldn't be an issue should it?

Any help would be appreciated.

Kevin Mullins:
The amperage wouldn't be a problem.

But I'd verify that the pinout is correct on the new power supply to match the touchscreen unit. Can have the same "connector", but possibly have the + and - crossing up which would cut out the power supply.
