Some MAME games running choppy & sound doubles...
« on: August 04, 2009, 03:29:22 pm »
Sorry for the newbie question, but when I play certain MAME games the games are choppy & the sounds keeps skipping.  I read online that if I change the audio to "midas" that may help the problem.  My silly question is, where do I go to change this audio setting?  Could this be the fix I need?  I'm running MAME through Maximus Arcade.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
R

This is a semi-regular topic so searching should turn up a number of threads with ideas (I haven't had this myself so I have only skimmed those topics).  A recent thread I found on this mentions people having good success resolving these types of problems with a version of MAME called mameuifx that has settings to enable a video sync and an audio sync feature - here is a thread link for you:

You said "certain games".. if that list of games is items like NFL Blitz and Gauntlet Legends the problem is horsepower as those games require more raw CPU and/or GPU to run smoothly.  You can find discussions on those particular games by searching the forums for Blitz.

Good luck,
