I'm not home so can't take any pics, but I currently have a generic cab that has a pullout like a Dynamo HS-5 and I *LOVE* that design over all else.
Maybe a shelf is just a shelf, but the fact that you can pull out the shelf on an HS-5 without having to move the cabinet and without making the front of the cabinet look goofy (Berzerk?) is a wonderful thing. My brother-in-law has a GT2K that I bought him some years ago in an HS-5 and is the only cab, outside of my own, that I don't dread working on when something goes wrong.
Here is a pic from the flyer (well, the flyer covers a few models, but you get the point):
I've used one in a MAME rig and it was perfect for getting access, popping in a flash drive to update something, etc. Don't know if you could get away with a similar design without decasing the PC, but it is a nice design. One of the local collector/ops has a standing order that he will buy up HS-5s because they are so nice to work with.

I can't tell from that picture, but it appears that they have a hole drilled in the shelf and have the jamma harness threaded through it. That's a pretty good idea. That way, it doesn't fall down and get lost in the bottom of the case when you remove the PCB.

Yeah, the "shelf" slides back down into the cab on a diagonal from the lip of the CP -- most everything is mounted on the board, so you only need to leave some slack for the monitor connections and the mains power. :applaud:
Last time I worked on my BiL's GT2K, I replaced the trackball, swapped the board for one of mine and switched out the PS without having to move the cab at all -- everything was available from the front. Took me about 20 minutes, including time to test the trackballs and PS. Was perfect timing as they were hosting a big party that night.
Someone here was working on some plans for one of these cabs, but I don't think it ever panned out.
I'll be back home next week ... if you want detailed pics of my generic cab's innerds (same basic design), remind me then.

looks to me like its parted and stapled to the board, which is also a great idea
