Unknow cab conversion
« on: June 21, 2009, 05:38:19 am »
Hi all, lurker here, loving the byoac!

I recently bought this cab for parts (mostly the coin door) for my 'in slow progress galaga/mspac cocktail cab'. I however like the shape and size of this (poorly built) cab so much, I decided to mame this (dedicated mspac).
I'd like to know if there's any reason not to. The cab has a Time pilot pcb installed, the Hantarex crt has burn-in of this game and has before been installed horizontally.
Only took pics after I started gutting:

Something is dead in there, the screen won't turn on (the seller said it rarely did come alive). The cab is mostly particle board with vinyl on it, in 'reasonable to fix' state. A lot of scrap wood used inside, I think this cab has seen a lot of conversions. It comes from the Netherlands. More pics available, of course.

So, not wanting to destroy anything of any 'arcade-historic value', I'd appreciate your opinion. I will log progress here, of course.

I don't know what it used to be but I love the shape.  The laid-back monitor types are my favorite...

Hi ikonat,

Funny, I almost bought that cab. It had a great price :applaud: Great to see it found a new home.

I'm no expert in Dutch cabs but as far as I know Royal Video, Uni Games, Elam Group cabs are all pretty generic.

Hey there, just in case you are interested.  The cabinet you have looks to be a "Taito Classic" used be Taito in the ealry 80's.  Here is a link for one of Taito's game cabinets.  http://cgi.ebay.com/Taito-Jungle-King-Arcade-Game_W0QQitemZ260401702536QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item3ca126a688&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=65%3A12%7C66%3A2%7C39%3A1%7C72%3A1205%7C240%3A1318%7C301%3A1%7C293%3A1%7C294%3A50
