Manual additions to mame.dat
« on: June 02, 2009, 10:33:44 am »
I'm using an older version of MAME (v0.99) that does not support Street Fighter III.

I use MAMEWah as a front-end which uses "rom_folder_vs_dat_file" to generate the list of games.

I can use custom ini files to launch the game from the MAME layout but run the game using CPS3 but only if I can get it to show up in the gamelist.

Can I manually edit the mame.dat to add SFIII and, if so, in what format? Do I run the risk of corrupting my mame.dat?

This is what a game entry looks like:

game (

   sourcefile pacman.c

   year 1980
   manufacturer "Namco"
