All of UMass runs on Natty Light.  There are people who actually support themselves wandering around campus and the outlying apartment complexes picking up Natty Light cans.  UMass might be 50% of the sales of Natty Light - it's really weird.  You'll go into a liquor store on friday and there are 250 cases of it sitting there.

Jim Koch must not be too happy about that.

For me booze has a bell curve effect on arcades/pinball.  I think it helps me to a certain extent but after awhile it certainly hinders my game play and once it starts to slide, it slides fast.

That's a pretty repulsive thought. I pretty much stick to my guns with Miller Lite. Now in my younger days, I drank whatever was on sale. Grew kinda fond of Beast Light and Keystone. But Natty Light, and for that matter Miller Hi Life, that is a whole new realm of putridness.

Jukebox Update: This morning added song #6400: Blue October - Dirt Room.

Wait wait wait - my bad.  It's not Natty Light.  It's Natty Ice.  Not sure why I said Light.

Sam Adams is a yuppy beer anyway that isn't half as good as people around here say it is.  Plus it costs WAY TOO MUCH for 35 frat guys to get drunk on...

Holy crap!! I don't think I've ever seen Natty Ice. How long ago was that? I assume it wasn't recent...the "ice" craze ended about 13 years ago.

Does anybody else remember Keystone's gimmick used to be the specially lined can...bottled beer taste in a can? We were once in Dallas and found a Keystone Dry 6 pack of longnecks. My friend called their little 'got questions?' number on the box and asked is their bottles had a special liner to make them taste like canned beer. They hung up on him.

You can still get Ice beer in a lot of brands.  It's a main staple for some of them.

maybe it's a regional thing. Or maybe I just have tunnel vision at the convenience store beer case.

Definitely not regional.  Convenience stores only carry a narrow band of stuff.

Back in the 'ice' hayday, you couldn't throw a dead cat in a convenience store without hitting an ice beer. Clearly they are not mainstream anymore if they aren't in said stores. I haven't seen Bud Ice or Lite Ice in well over a decade. That's how you know you're in a dive bar: if they still have Bud Ice neons. I'm sure there is an occasional obscure ice beer (is Icehouse an ice beer?) in some stores...so it's not quite a dinosaur...more like a polar bear.

I see Molson Ice and Natty Ice all the time and it is carried in a convenience store down the street.  Not many convenience stores carry alcohol up here but that one does.  It's a White Hen Pantry if that helps.  They may both be carried at a gas station around my house, too, I know at least Natty Ice is.

The beer heavy liquor store down the street from my house also carries both of those and 3-4 others that aren't coming to mind right now.  Of course, they also carry about 500 other beers, so that's not your typical store.

When I was in college, we had this juco transfer come in for a visit. He was an offensive tackle, about 6'7, 325 lbs and looked like a sasquatch. We take him to the bar and he says to the bartender..."Do you have any Zima?"  :laugh2: In this voice that sounded like McBain.

Of course the coaches signed him up...and we went 3-7 the next year.

Still getting a chuckle out of Natty Ice. Never tasted it, but it sounds like Natty Light's ugly sister. I imagine taking a drink and having a Family Guy-like puke-a-thon.

I was going to suggest this thread got off track from its original purpose but I dont think it ever got started down the road of its original purpose.

More to point - does anyone know if SA is going to have a STL summer date?  Their calendar in only through July I think and there is nothing for STL.  I cant remember when they typically come through there.  Maybe its August.

Last year it was early August.  Seems to be April (with Brewmania), August, and November lately. But I assume nothing's written in stone if it's not on their schedule.

April was a colossal disappointment. Even Brewmania wasn't that great.

Throwing down the gauntlet...Weekend Donkey Kong contest. High score gets a 40oz King Cobra. Competition starts friday at 6pm, post results by 9am monday. Screen shot would be nice proof, but not necessary.

I'd like to have went with a more contemporary theme...like horse racing or something Mexican (cinco de Mayo), but for the life of me, I can't think of anything worthwhile on MAME.

Good luck MAMErs :burgerking:

The thought of king cobra makes me want to puke & ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- myself.

I drank too much (Blue Moon's & somehow Mickey's too), scored poorly at everything & woke up on the basement floor with the worst headache ever..........I need some oxy's to fix this one.

Luckily STL dorks know the medicinal qualities of Lions Choice. The Indians rubbed LC on their arrow wounds to accelerate healing & also during ceremonies in honor of the wolf spirit..............ok not really but I love bloody salty beef, ---fudgesicle--- yeah

42300 and I was robbed. Cheating-ass DK throwing random tumbling barrels. He sensed I was the chosen one.

And I sure am glad I bought all those exactas and trifectas with I Want Revenge on friday...that was a sound investment. Oh well, I did start the drinking day off with 3 mint juleps made with the brownest of the browns...Makers Mark. Had to start sunday off with 3 pills and a glass of OJ...took about 3 hours to get my feet under me.

BTW, Simpsons last night was an instant classic...Homer playing a Halo type game on XBox and tea-bagging the corpes then going to a kegger down the hall.

LLUncool you ---Bad words, bad words, whatcha gonna do? Whatcha gonna do when saint censors you?---.  I was up and out your door by 8:15.  Spent my morning taking the little one to get pictures.  I actually felt worse yesterday evening than when I woke up.  I guess the combo of too much to drink on Sat. + McDonalds breakfast + Ruby Tuesday's salad bar buffet + huge bag of salty, buttery popcorn while watching wolverine finally caught up to me.

I was crushed when the local lions choice closed down.  Luckily there is one downtown STL close to where I work.

I want revenge on I Want Revenge.  Stupid horse.........

I had LC @ the Valley today, then went to play sterns "24", "Batman" & "Spidey" @ the copper dome & drank 2 redbulls when I got back to the office.

Yep, it was a kick ass lunch break.

I'm sure you told the copper dome salespigs that you were seriously interested in buying one of those machines. Every time I've been out there, they are all nonchalant about wanting me to pay $20K for a pool table and then they hover around me when I go back to the corner to play some pinball. It's not like I look like I have an extra $20K earmarked for a pool table...I usually look like a slob that came in to play some free pinball.

Well, to their credit, when they open the doors on Sunday mornings, there is a stampede of men straight to the pinball section.  I offered to help the sales guy set a System3 machine to Free Play for $50, he wasn't amused.  Enjoy crediting that thing up every 3 minutes, chump!  :D

Tried to hustle a Jurassic Park on a shopper in there, "$1,500 and it's way nicer than their stuff" and I think he thought I was just trying to mug him.

I don't think we've got anything like that place in San Antonio.   :'(

If you were in the STL area I would be interested in that JP. 15 hundo is a little high unless it is pristine. >:D

Bringing the sauce with you?  I thought you were going to stay mildly sober.

---fudgesicle---!

I cant drink my usual amounts of energy for a loooooong time.

3 weeks ago I was in the ER all night, found out the hard way my enlarged heart cannot handle my very high blood pressure.

So now I take my medicine & play pinball with just 1-2 cans rather than the 8+ (sometimes it gets weird after even 2 cans though).

Meaning you may have a chance at winning at least ONE game against me.

Gigitty gigitty gooooo (I am gonna kick that Family Guy machines ASS!!!!!)

Well damn man that sucks.  Maybe pinball just gets you too worked up period.  In that case I would be willing to take JP or TFTC off your hands.  I'm only offering because its in your best interest.

I can assure you I couldnt win any competition between us if you were falling down drunk and I was completely sober.  I'm still looking to beat Chuck's high score he had on my Demo Man - and he probably only played 30 games on it.  I've probably played 3-4x's that and I'm not even close.  I have 2nd - 4th place all wrapped up though  :laugh2:

What about that time I came over and wasted the high score? Did you somehow cheat my initials out?

Oh please you got a good score because the plunger had a plug disconnected and the thing just kept shooting out balls.

Thats probably how you got the high score on our ES machine.  You'll get exposed for the fraud you are tomorrow night...

Thats like saying when somebody fumbles right into a defensive player's hands and said player scores the winning TD, that it shouldn't count. All the defensive player can do is react and run for the goal line. That's all I did...react and HIGH SCORE. >:D
