what size lock?

(1/2) > >>

Honzo:
hey, i got the cabinet that i'm converting off the curb so i don't have the keys, but i'd like to replace all the locks with ones that i can have the key to.  only problem is i don't know what size to buy.  where do i measure it from/to?  Just the threadings? or all the way to the end of the inner cylinder?  thanks!

Honzo:
Actually, if anyone could just identify the lock, that would help much more.  I'm just trying to find the cheapest replacement for these....

TheShanMan:
It's a cam lock, and most are 5/8" I believe. The cheapest way to get one would probably be to go to your local hardware store like Home Depot. They're actually overpriced, but when you factor in shipping from an online site, you're probably better off just getting it there. But if you need to get a bunch, want matching locks (1 key for all locks), or need to order other parts, Bob Roberts has them cheap.

Honzo:
well its 5 that i need to replace and i'd like them to all be keyed the same so its just the one key for the cabinet.  So i guess time to go to bob roberts?
also, i don't understand how this is a 5/8".  It's about 3/4" in diameter and 7/8" deep (to the front of the cam).  What does the measurement... measure?!

TheShanMan:
Oops. Sorry, meant 7/8", and it's measured depth-wise. I'd get them from BR in your case. I just ordered 12 from him as a matter of fact. :)
