J-Pac Through Supergun - I need to test this...

(1/2) > >>

...because I bought it with it 'working when I removed it from the cabinet - which was blah blah blah months ago so it's comes as untested!' - or at least that was what I was told!

Anyway, as I haven't currently got a jamma cabinet I can only test this through my supergun - and as I haven't got any experience with J-Pacs or any documentation I don't know whether I'm doing something wrong or whether I'm just wasting my time. One thing that concerns me is that the 2 or 3 of the Jamma connectors on the J-Pac look like they have slightly melted at some point - and this was before I plugged it in - this doesn't exactly fill me with confidence and if it's a sign of the J-Pac possibly dying then I will be complaining.

So far, the supergun kicks in because it has something connected but other than that - black screen. I haven't got an ArcadeVGA and I haven't installed Soft 15HZ and I also know this J-Pac is the earlier one and not the newer one...

No LEDs are currently lit... how can I test this... please help people!

slapaham:
My stupidity - didn't connect PS/2 or USB - so no power...

Here's an update... Right, I now have LEDs! :D

I still don't have a picture and the Sync OK LED is not lit - I'm assuming there is still something wrong with the video/connection. I'm using my supergun through a standard scart connection on a TV...

slapaham:
Okay... I have it now showing the boot screens BADLY... I have a juddery duel screen picture and once Windows boots the picture disappears... from what I have read this doesn't sound abnormal. I have set the jumpers to 15 and 31... is there anything else I can do to test this using my Scart TV Supergun?

Malenko:
what resolution are you running?

running a JPAC through a super gun seems...... weird. there are better easier ways to run a PC to a TV

slapaham:
No... I agree with you Malenko - IT IS a stupid idea! But its the only way I can test my J-Pac until my Jamma cab eventually gets here from Japan. I think I've concluded that it is working okay - it seems to be doing everything it should be.
