I need to shave a few pieces...
« on: November 18, 2008, 04:32:58 pm »
I've got a 1 player arcade stick Im working on. The wood is 3/4" MDF.
For the sides and back piece, the plans call for 1 1/2" thick pieces...which means gluing 2 pieces together and filling the seam.

Problem. No matter how many times I measure and measure....and it looks right, when I cut the pieces right after each other...they are never exact. Same measurements....same guide placement. I dunno whats up.

So I glued 2 pieces together to test how it'll work. There's a little extra hangover on one piece so its uneven. Whats the best option to trim down the glued pieces so they are uniform and smooth?

Sandpaper? Router?

Can't use  a table saw because of how the piece has to lay in order for the blade to go all the way through.

router with a flush trim bit...definitely easiest & fastest...

Seconded; flush trim bit since you already have them cut.  Next time you might consider cutting them together.
